When you get lines that usually means a memory problem. Well it usually means the picture is too big for the memory. Try setting the quality down a few notches and see if the picture improves.

sometimes the problem is on the PC end and it is doing to much. Shut down or turn off everything you can before printing.

If you have a really old slow computer it can be a combination of cpu and ram on the pc.

Usuallu turning down the quality fixes this everytime. The advertising is a bit decpetive as you think you can print picture quality on a full size page but in fact it only has enough ram to do it properlly on a much smaller size.

Pages print with a line thru all the text. They aren't underlines, but have an actual line printed over the text. How do I change this?

Hello,

It's called overstrike.

Try send a print out from another application. If result is same, then print a self test page. Still the same, then replace cartridge.

Otherwise, head needs service/replacement.

However, if self test print out look good then you should check printer preferences.

good luck

When printing out pictures there are red lines going across them. What causes this and how do I fix it? =) I have a brother multi function MFC 665CW printer.

I think you may find, that. it is the actual printing program itself is putting that there so you will buy the software and get a code that will remove those lines for you? I maybe wrong but??

Brother MFC-440CN USB Printer double prints letters

Did you use Brother Genuine Cartirdges????
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine.

When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, mis-align the letters & put stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Lines when picture is printed

Usually the print head just needs to be cleaned. There's a Brother utility included with your printer, that you can select Clean. Run this. Afterwards run a print test page to see if it has cleared up your problem. If the unit STILL does it, your print cartridges may be low, or perhaps a 3rd party print cartridge was used, and the printer doesn't really KNOW how much ink is in them.

I believe the print cartidge itself, IS the print head, thereby, when you install a new cartridge, you renew the print head. which is good. However, I don't know on this model. If not, the print head, can be cleaned with a cotton q-tip with a little alcohol.

I hope this helps.

Brother 420CN printer will not print black ink. Have replaced the cartridge and after several cleaning cycles, it still will not print properly. Test Print shows colors are fine but black ink is hit and...

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck

Wont print

what are you trying to print in black? the best way to test out a black ink is to open word pad and type some thing random and print it and see if that works. if you have a all in one printer u might have 2 inks one color and one black in the printer

Brother 2140 Printer Problem

It is most likly not linked to word. Word is likly sending the prints to the wrong, obsloete or wrong copy of the printer.
When printing check to see where the doc is being sent to print.
Then go to printers to see which printer is your 2140 active and ofcourse do a test print. If the test print is good this is the correct link to your printer.
