Connecting the external hard drive to iDJ2

How do I connect the external hard drive to the idj2? I tried using a usb connection straight from the seagate external hard drive to the usb hub on the iDJ2, but an error message says a computer is needed.
What do I do?

Try running the external HHD through the Librarian software first.

Sometimes External drive mounts on IDJ2... Sometimes it wont... Drive lights up each time... BUt will work for a couple days... Then wont work... Its a seagate Freeagent drive... 750gb

I spoke with Numark regarding intermittent cutting out of 750g Seagate hard drive. They claim the problem is with the size of hard drive and recommend using nothing larger than 500g. Bit of a shame really. Surprised no firmware upgrade to incorporate newer storage solutions.

Idj2 will not recognize my external hard drive

Also try the second port on the back,
try a USB stick with some songs on it, to see if the USB ports are working. If the USB stick works,
Could be the format the External unit is formatted in. Using FAT32 is recommended, look in the manual (downloadable form numark.com) for supported formats.
Preferrable an external HD, which has its own power supply, not fed by the USB ports on the IDJ2 (max 0.5 A)

Jack

I want delete songs from idj2 pls help

There are no songs on the IDJ2
Only on your Harddrive / USb stick or Ipod.
If you want to play songs via the IDJ2, you need the librarian software for using the IDJ2 in combination with you songs.

I get no sound from my speakers

If you are saying that you are connecting the idj2 directly to the speakers... Yes, You need a amplifier. Most DJ mixers only "pre-amplify" the sound signal (like the idj2 does), but there isn't enough power to drive a set of speakers.

The path goes like this...
idj2 or cd players&mixer===>Amplifier===>Speakers===>Party

How to download firmware and librarian files to my idj2

The current firmware available is version v1.13 which is located at http://www.numark.com/idj2 . It also has Librarian v1.5 included with it.

Download the firmware to your PC and then unzip it to your desktop where you can retrieve it easily.

Transfer the firmware file to the handy little 128mb thumb drive that came with the idj2. (I moved all of the files from the thumb drive on to my PC so the firmware file was the only file on my thumb drive to avoid any computer related confusion)

Making sure your idj2 is powered "OFF" insert the thumb drive containing firmware v1.13 into one of the rear USB ports. Make sure this is the only thing plugged into the idj2 at this time(no keyboard, ect)

Turn on the idj2 on. You will see a message that says the machine is checking the firmware.(I don't have the system in front of me right now but that is roughly what it says) It will take a few minutes and the system will update to the new firmware.

Still asks me to download librian

The idj2 doesn;t search off your ipod. you have to put libraries together with the librarian tool.

Here is a manual for your idj2 it's clear and will tell you how to import a library to your computer for search and play.

send me your email and I will send you a manual i downloaded [email protected]

My IDJ2 is unstable

Hi,
not sure what it can be, but if you used librarian before, be sure that you are running librarian 1.50 with fw 1.09(a). If you have created a library with 1,33, then you have to create the library again with the 1.50 version. Don't use USB powered drives. Mostly they overload the USB port, with al sorts of weird problems. If you have one of these, use an USB powered hub to remove the load of the IDJ2 port. You could test with an USB stick, for a few hours..

regards,
Jack.
