Gateway AR 230 DVD Recorder will no recognize any of my dvds
My DVD recorder will not recognize any of my DVDs. Every time I try to play a DVD it just says "NO DISC." It will not even try to load. What should I do?
My Gateway AR-230 recorded several disks from VHS tapes sucessfully. The next disk I put in I recorded some VHS onto then turned the unit off to resume later. When I turned it back on it would not recognize the disk. I could not "finalize" the disk as the AR=230 could not read it, it just put onto the screen to insert a disk! I put in a new disk and the screen read it and put "infalid disk" I called Gateway and they had me reset the unit. That did not help. Any suggestions?My Gateway AR-230 recorded several disks from VHS tapes sucessfully. The next disk I put in I recorded some VHS onto then turned the unit off to resume later. Re: Gateway AR 230 DVD Recorder will no recognize any of...
I contacted Gateway and found out that the AR-230 will not work with anything more than 4x DVD's. Usually it will format DVD-RW's. Usually any cheep brand will work.

if your trying to play dvd r or dvd rw ( copy dvds ) some dvd players wont play them. but if its original dvds your trying to play, try using a lens cleaning kit
The home recorded dvds disc have diffrence finalizing codes,that the Panasonic dvd recorder doesn't share those codes.That why u can't play those home recorded dvds discs.
I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product
Your DVD player can only read certain formats. You will need to use a program like Nero to convert the stuff you download the videos that your DVD player can read. Nero has good documentation, so just take a look at that, and decide what format you want to go with.
Your player should say what it can play in the manual.
My Cyberhome DVD 300 usede to work fine. I rarely used it since I bought it a Wal-Mart less than six months ago. Lost my manual and codes so I don't know how to solve this problem. A red light is showing with a DVD stuck inside the player. Any ideas??
Unplug for 2 hours. otherwise timing is off and timing needs to be adjusted or rubber replaced..usually Pro shop or open it up and look aroound , possibly a belt came off ??
Here is the link to the manual if you need it;
