How can i use Sony 5.1 Receiver STR-DG520 in India (120V to 230V)

I am in India going to buy a Sony 5.1 Receiver STR-DG520 from US through a friend. According to its specifications the Power Requirement is AC120V, 60 Hz but its not suitable here in India. We are using 230V, 50Hz here. My question is, is this receiver has a switch to change its volt to 120 to 230?. If not is there any converter available in the market? Please suggest me the converter’s watts ratting. Here is the product specification link. http://www.electronics-expo.com/make-a-store/item/SONSTRDG520%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20/Sony/STR-DG520/1.html

Sorry, but according to Sony this set operates only on 120 volts at 60 hertz. As we have no real need for up converters here in the USA, I cannot recommend one for your application. The best course would be for you to visit one of your local electronics stores and provide them with the specific current requirements. I'm certain that an appropriate converter is available in your area.

Does a sony str dg520 have a built in phono amp?

It does not have a dedicated phono socket at all. You might be able to hook up a turntable using one of the other analogue audio sockets, but you would also need a cartridge preamplifer to connect.
You can look at the user manual online free, by just putting in:
sony str dg520 to Google. You will see a PDF file for it.

Turn on the unit the 120v 6amp fuse blows right away

Hi,
This is an indication that you have a short on 1. Power cord - even low of chances but still to be checked. 2. Rectifier Diode 3. Transformer 4. Voltage regulator IC/transistor 5. Main filter Capacitor.

This is not DIY and can't be fixed without some test instrument so I've advice you to look a technician to isolate the shorted parts.
Hope it may help you.

Im having a hard time getting audio useing the hdmi ports on my sony str-dg520

The HDMI on this receiver is for video pass through only. It basically only serves the same purpose as an extension cord for an HDMI cable that's too short.
For audio you need to connect either a digital coax, an optical or composite cables.

Ive got a str-dg520 reciever and have a loud hum coming from all speakers have tryed removing all wires then putting back in but still happens

Try replacing the big Electrolytic Capacitors in the power supply section. When they go the let the 50/60HZ hum into the audio from the mains supply.

Video but no audio

This receiver does not support audio via HDMI. You need to connect BD player via spdif cable. Use optical or coax depending on what does the BD player support - receiver supports both.

Sony STR-DG520

STRDG520 requires that the audio is from the digital optical or the digital coaxial to have sound. Just add digital audio from blue ray player to the amp and your good to go.
