The first step is to clean the lens with a cotton swab and alcohol if you can get to it. If you hear the disc spin, then either the optics are failing or the spindle motor (makes the CD spin) is starting to fail and is not getting the disc up to speed in time. Either problem will result in the "no disc" error. If the cleaning does not resolve the problem, the optics will need to be replaced.

It is possible that you have a disc with a format that is not supported by your player. This can happen for many reasons. If your player will play a new standard DVD it is most likely the other disc that is the problem. Every player is different. Some new less expensive players will play almost any thing. A newer better quality player may not play as many formats. Besides the issue of format you can find security issues with either old discs or more likely an older player. Discs that are a problem more often are discs that have been burned copied or down loaded or produced by a company that uses a format that is not as widely used. The last problem is common with work out videos and generic movies / kids programs . You may also check to see if your player can except a software update.

How to crrect the no valid disc error when they play fine n another unit

Different players have different focal ranges, or just different optics. Some discs are right at the edge of being playable in a certain player because of their tolerances (like, thickness to the recorded surface from the outer surface that affects the focal range required). With normal wear and tear, these discs will become unplayable sooner in a player in which they're marginal than in players in which they have a good range of focus.

That being said, do any discs play in that problem unit? I assume they do, but if not, it could be the playback laser diode.

But if they're not playing because that player doesn't have as good detection or focal range as the other players there's nothing really you can do about it. You can try polishing the discs but it may be a lost cause.

The wall mount blurry player will play movies (Benjamin. Button) but will not advance from the FBI warning for The Good Wife, tv series rental. Help

If other discs are playing fine it is best to give the benefit of doubt to the player and not to worry more as this can be a damaged disc, a pirated disc or one with a region lock. Some times certain players will not play as the tracks can have errors due to damage and so the processor will protect.

I used my Pioneer DVD-RAM DVR-112CH for a few years; and I was able to play all my discs without any problems (all are legit). I mainly use AnyDVD to play any of my DVDs. But I had noticed recently that...

Hi, You can try testing the discs on a different player. The problem may be with a scratched disc or damaged disc. The player seems to be fine if it works with other discs. In any case, I have provided a link to the player's manual: http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/jvc/jvc_xv_n320b_xvn320b.html

My polaroid dvd player keeps reporting "Bad Disc" on discs that play just fine in other DVD players. What can I do to fix this problem?

Is the movie a copy or an original, some copies do not work in all machines, some will accept a dvd-R but will not work with a dvd+R except if you have a brand new unit, they usually accept most discs, the older dvd players are not compatable with all blank dvd's...Steve

CD PLayer no longer recognising CD RW discs

Try cleaning the discs with straight swipes, with a dry cloth, like your shirt, starting from the center and swiping outward.

-bad disc reports

The problem with using rental discs is that they are dirty. Buy a dvd player cleaning disc and follow the instructions. These discs help to realign the laser. If this does not help try cleaning the disc with a disc cleaner. Also depending on how new the dvd is there have been a lot of discs manufactured outside of the US that have been bad. It may not be your machine but the discs. I personally went through 6 of the same movie before i gave up and rented something else that worked perfectly fine. Hope this helps you watch.
