UNABLE TO DOWN LOAD DATA FROM CAMERA ON TO MY PC USING THE SOFT WARE SUPPLIED ( THE SOFT WARE KEPT FAILING TO FINISH) - I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES ON 3 DIFFERENT PCs - HAVING TRIED ALL WAYS OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS, NOW BECOMING VERY FRUSTRATED. I'V EVEN TRIED TO TRANSFER DIRECT FROM THE CAMER AS DIRECTED IN THE MANUAL WITH NO JOY. IN FACT I FOUND THE DETAILED INSTRUCTION (PART ONLY) BEFORE THE SOFTWARE GAVE UP EXTREMELY COMPLICATED. Your computer may exceed requirements but if the software is not compatible with Windows 7, there's nothing you can do. You could try going to the support section of the Olympus website to see if they have an upgrade. If all you need to do is download pics, you can always use a card reader.
If you are using a card reader of some sort (other than using the camera to download the images), it may not be SDHC compliant. Have you tried using the camera to download the images via the supplied cable? If you've taken the images in RAW format, that could also be the problem. Try using a 2gb or smaller card in the camera to take some images and then download them using your usual method. If it works with the 2gb card but not with the 4gb, it's likely your reader isn't SDHC compliant.
You might try running one of the live cd distributions to see if the machine hardware is supported that way. You do need a minimum of 128 MB of ram, might be 192 for a live system. It could just be that the system doesn't have enough ram to run Debian, that would explain why it wouldn't finish installation, and why it fails to load now. Check the readme and release notes for minimum system requirements. Maybe you would do better with a leaner distro like DSL?
