Make sure your are lowering the pressure foot first before you start sewing. With the free motion foot, you still have to lower the pressure foot, this allows tension to be put on the top thread and allows the foot to work properly (when the needle goes down so should the foot and when the needle comes up it should lift the foot up.)

Also make sure your tensions are in a middle setting and that you are threading the machine with the pressure foot up.

The way to insure you will not get your problem is with the foot up, you should be able to pull the thread easily right before the eye of the needle and when you put the foot down you should then feel a fair bit of tension on the top thread.

hope that helps :)

SOURCE: My Pfaff 4.0 breaks needles

a sewing machine I work on last week, I put a new needle in the needle clamp & thought I had it correctly inserted,, but it wouldn't work,, so I went back & checked the needle again & found I had to unscrew the needle clamp screw even more than normal to insert the needle then it work perfectly.

some needles & thread don't work togeather--here's a tip
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

also clean under the needle plate where the feed dogs are for lint
& also in the bobbin area for lint & loose threads

I have a quilt expression 2044 and need a free motion quilt foot, 93-036 963-91/00. I went to a shop that sells pfaff and they said it is no longer available.

Although the dealer may no longer sell the "original" foot for your machine, there are usually "used" presser feet available from sites like eBay. OR, you can purchase non-Pfaff presser feet that will work just as well on your machine. Just be sure to verify that the presser foot is compatible with your model (the shank style will determine whether it will work on your machine).

Pfaff 113 want to free motion quilt the foot will not allow me to se. I even took the screw for adjusting preasure all the way out and it still has too much preassure

Sounds like perhaps you have the incorrect foot. Did you perhaps purchase a quilting foot (used for piecing)? A free motion foot is actually shorter in height so it will not contact the feed dogs or needle plate. It is this added space that allows the fabric to be moved freely under the foot. Also, be sure to drop the feed dogs.

If the presser foot is still too long, perhaps the shank is not correct for your machine. Sorry, am unable to locate information re your particular model.

Will the Fab u motion with stitch regulator work with a Pfaff 2046?

You should probably verify with either the vendor selling the stitch regulator unit or your Pfaff dealer. It would be best to get a guarantee before purchasing.

Can the presser foot be raised slightly on pfaff tiptronic 2030 to facilitate free motion quilting? There is not enough clearance with feed dogs down to freely move material to quilt. Thank you.

You need a special foot for free motion quilting--it is slightly shorter in height than a regular presser foot, which essentially provides space between the presser foot and the needle plate to manually move the fabric. Sometimes machines came with a standard darning foot accessory. Your Pfaff dealer probably has at least one style in stock. But there are other specialty feet you can probably use, ie Big Foot, clear free motion foot, C-shaped, oval, etc. You can also purchase a shank adapter (verify it is the correct shank for your machine) and use it with a kit of snap-on presser feet so you can have a variety of presser feet for different functions.

How to set 2140 for free motion sewing

Which model are you using? Creative 4.5?, On the newer machines it drops automatically once the embroidery attachment is hooked up. On older Creatives v2.x there is a slide lever in front of the presser foot on the front.
