F5 E5 - After running Self Cleaning on Kitchen-Aid Oven - Burner

Guess what, you ran your self cleaner and now your burner won't burn right? Same thing happened to me. Oh, everything else works, just not the element that heats up. I called Columbine Appliance in Longmont, CO and they came out and fixed it for $212.46 The part they used to fix it was W10175596. It took him 38 minutes to complete. I googled the part. It is CHEAP. I saw many sites offering the part for less than $40. You could easily fix this yourself. Never run self-cleaning options on ovens. No matter what brand. You'll ruin your oven in one way or another.

Sometimes, according to what I've seen.  My theory is that the elements are probably covered in grime and this causes the damage.  As far as the control...I don't think that makes sense.
Never use cleaner on the elements..also causes damage.
A typical duty cycle for cleaning is 2- 2.5 hours.  Longer and you could burn them up, too.

I have an older Roper by Whirlpool self cleaning oven. It does not have a door lock or timer. Do I just close the door and turn the oven to clean and it will indicate when the cycle is done?

Never ever use the features of a Self Cleaning Oven. We see the damage they do here on Fixya, and the worst is the door not unlocking, and the most expensive is when they fry the mainboard.

They all have a door interlock. If you were to open it when it was running, it would frizz your eyebrows!

McClary self cleaning oven. Not working. Is there a fuse that needs replacing.

It is broken, you will need a service call. Number 1 tip. Never use the self cleaning feature! 930'F is so harsh, it damages elements, fans, door locks and control boards. It ensures the maker gets a steady stream of repairs and parts. We see it here on the site often. If you have a multimeter and the skill, you can start testing parts for continuity.

How do I replace the receptacle for the heating elements on the stove top.

Typically the light is a function of the selector so as long the position of the knob is to the on position it will be on. in order for the burners to work you'll have to replace the connectors, so full current can go through them. also the self cleaning feature refers to the oven meaning you can lock it, turn it to clean and it will get so hot that the build up on the inside will get flaky and then you can clean it once it cools off. I've never seen one that work that well, but it has nothing to do with the glass there is cleaners that you can "rub" kind of like waxing a car and if you have build up on the glass or burned food you can scrape it with a razor laying flat on the glass and scrape the cleaner around will eventually it will peel off.

When the oven gets dirty and you don't run the clean cycle, dirt builds up and burns away the hotter the oven gets. Run the clean cycle if you have a self clean mode on the oven. throw the metal burner and grates in the oven too. (no plastic) open a window because it will stink and it takes a few hours to run. If not, use oven cleaner then run the oven to the hottest temp for at least 1-2 hours to burn the old dirt out..

This oven when it hits about 400 degrees it makes this chemical plastic smell, and at selfcleaning it makes the same smell for 3 1/2 hours, and come to find out it burned the paint off

How does self cleaning work on my frigidaire gas burner stove?

Self cleaning would be better named... Running the oven real hot to burn off residue.. so in essence, the oven is locked out and then heat is raised to a high level to bake out grease and food byproducts so they either burn off or turn to ash for easier cleaning.. Does that make sense to you? Most self cleaning ovens lock out the user until the oven has cooled down to a safe user-friendly level..
