Maytag Performa Electric Range (PER1510) tripped circuit breaker when immediately following turning the oven on. There was a mild electric burn smell from behind the range. I have left the circuit breaker off. The range was installed in 2003 and has had no issues until this episode. Recommendations at this point? JR

First, un-plug unit and remove rear access cover,it could be a wire with bad insulation that has shorted to the body of the unit, could be an oven/broiler element, could be one of your feed lines to the unit shorted to ground, does it trip brkr w/o anything turned on???you can also isolate the problem that way.good luck

Amana model lga60aw Dryer tripping circuit breaker

Is the dryer gas or electric? Does it plug into a 110Volt outlet or a 220Volt outlet? Does it trip the circuit breaker immediately or will it run for a while and then trip the breaker? If it is tripping immediately then there is a short inside the unit. If it takes a while to trip the breaker it can be that the outlet you are using is not a dedicated line and has other circuits connected to it. If that's the case you are overloading the breaker and causing it to shut down. If it is a dedicated line that you are plugged into then something inside the unit is heating up when its in use and overloading the circuit breaker. Then the unit needs service.

The stove made a popping sound and the circuit breaker popped.i reset the breaker and it popped instantly.

Since you have a gas kitchen range, finding the problem should not be that difficult.

1. Make sure all switches are in the off position. Then reset the circuit breaker. If it didn't trip, then turn one knob on at a time (and then off) until it trips.

2. If the circuit breaker triped with all knobs off, then it would have to be something that is always on like the 12V transformer.

Hopefully, this wiring diagram will be of help.

The burners and the oven quit working om my range, the clock still works.

It sounds like you may be missing part of the input voltage at the wall receptacle. You should be reading 220-240VAC across the two hot terminals (left and right slots) on an ELECTRIC range. Some homes are wired with two separate breakers to make up the 220 service that feeds your appliance. If this is the case, make sure one of the breakers is not tripped.

Or, you may have a possible bad power cord. With the unit unplugged, check the continuity of the power cord from end to end to make sure the wires are not broken.

The clock assembly functions off of a 110-120VAC source which is tapped off the input voltage. All the elements all use 220. If one of the input legs is missing, the clock will still function, but none of the elements will work. Please check and get back to me if this isn't the problem. I hope this helps you.

My electric range is tripping the circuit breaker

unplug the unit and see if maybe you have a problem in the breaker/supply line from the house panel, otherwise does it work fine?,there also may be a bare or shorted wire in the unit itself

Maytag stove mer6769baq trips the breaker whenever plugged in

It sounds to me like there is a short circuit either in the plug or the connections at the stove. It could also be within the stove although that seems very unlikely. If this happens when your using the stove, the breaker and circuit could be undersized (required breaker size-50AMPS) Check all wires and the breaker.

30amp trip after getting hot

Look on the unit for the electrical data plate. It should have the required amperage rating on it.
Have the actual amperage being pulled by the unit checked.
You may have improper voltage being supplied to the unit which causes excessive amperage.
The breaker could be weak. Meaning that it may be tripping at an amperage less than 30.
Your wire size may be too small for the circuit which would cause overheating of the circuit and tripping the breaker.
Do not change the breaker to a higher amperage unless the wire size attached to that circuit is rated for it.
A breakers job is to stop power should a overheating of circuit or a short circuit occurs. It protects the circuit from catching fire inside the walls and burning the place down.
Good Luck and I hope this helps.
