Lawrence, you will need to get a filter plug that replaces the filter, if you don't want to use the fridge filter element, otherwise, you will not be able to get ice and water from the dispenser.

I tried to look up the part you need, but the model number you provided appears to be missing some alpha or digits. I would suggest you contact KitchenAid or the retailer where you purchased it from, and ask them to order you the plug. Sometimes these fridges are shipped with the bypass plug installed and the new filter gets put in at installation by the delivery people, etc. If yours already had the filter installed, you'll have to buy a filter cap/plug in order to still get ice and water from the fridge.

Here's a link to a possible plug for your fridge:

Here's another one you can look at, just scroll down and you'll see the plugs mid-way down the page.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Ice maker crushes ice but wont dispense Crushed ice

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the ice maker in your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS23H7CS, is crushing your ice, but will not dispense the crushed ice. It sounds like the dispenser is possibly jammed. Follow the following steps for a possible resolution:

1)The ice has melted and frozen around the auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and/or power outages. Remove the ice container, thaw, and empty the contents. Clean the container, wipe dry, and replace it in the proper position. When new ice is made, dispenser should operate.

2)Ice cubes are jammed between the ice maker and the back of ice container. Remove the ice cubes that are jamming the dispenser.

3)Ice cubes could be frozen together. Use the dispenser often so that cubes do not freeze together.

4)The ice cubes are hollow or smaller than normal. The ice & water filter cartridge could be clogged. Replace the filter cartridge. Dispensing system operates best at 20 - 100 psi water pressure. Well water pressures should fall within this range.

If the above does not work, I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Turn the power back on and try dispensing crushed ice. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully.

    -Best Regards-

How to make the ice maker work

Problems with Ice Maker/Water Dispenser
If you are not getting ice, make sure the water valve is open and the ice shutoff switch or arm is not in the "Off"
position. Inspect the ice ejector arm for blockage and remove any trapped ice with a plastic spoon. If you recently
emptied the ice container, remember that it takes your refrigerator up to 24 hours to produce ice.
Low water pressure is the major cause of problems with the water/ice door dispenser. Low water pressure can cause
inadequate water flow and small or hollow ice cubes. Check the water line for kinks that may interfere with water
flow and make sure the water valve is open. A dirty water filter can color the water and ice cubes, impede water
flow or cause water to have an off taste so remove, clean and replace it.
If water is leaking from the door dispenser, make sure the water glass remains under the spout until the water
shuts off completely. If you recently changed the water filter, air that was left in the line may cause water to
spurt from the dispenser. To flush the water line, let water run from the dispenser for approximately three minutes
or until you draw out 1.5 gallons of water. Try to find a container that will fit under the dispenser spout so you
do not have to start and stop to empty the container.

Have a nice day my friend : )

I've got a side by side Whirlpool refridgerator. The Water Filter status light is not indicating. What could be the problem and solution?

There are several pages that explain dispenser programming. This is on page 10 of the owners manual.

Water Filter Status Light (on some models)

The water filter status light will help you know when to change

your water filter. When the water filter status display changes from

"GOOD" to "ORDER," this tells you that it is almost time to

change the water filter cartridge. Replace the water filter cartridge

when the water filter status display changes to "REPLACE." If

water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases

noticeably, change the filter sooner. The filter should be replaced

at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and

usage.

After changing the water filter, reset the status light by pressing

and holding the FILTER button for 3 seconds. The status light will
change from "REPLACE" to "GOOD" when the system is reset.

Changing the Water Filter

1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

2. Pull the filter straight out.

3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.

IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your

refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and

turn the cap until it snaps into place.

NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water

will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the

base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.

5. Remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are

still in place after the covers are removed.

6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop

back out when the filter is fully engaged.
7. Flush the water system. See "Water and Ice Dispensers."

Water Filter Status Light:

The water filter status light will help you know when to change your water filter.

When the dispenser control panel's water filter status display changes to "ORDER," this tells

you that it is almost time to change the water filter cartridge.

Replace the water filter cartridge when the water filter status display changes to "REPLACE."

The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.

NOTE: If water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably, change the

filter sooner. After changing the water filter, reset the status light.

Details:

Pressing and holding RESET FILTER starts the 3 seconds countdown. Using the dispenser

cancels the countdown AND no dispensing is permitted. The number '3' blinks 3 times and the

'invalid' tone sounds 3 times and user has to release both the pad and the button and press

the button again to start it over

After 3 seconds, the BLUE WATER BARS in the Icon flash and an audible tone sounds 3
times. When the system is reset, the "ORDER" and "REPLACE" icons will disappear from the

display screen. See figure 16.
Note: Users can reset the filter status at any stage.

I have no manual and I want to make ice cubes and be able to drink filtered water. I do not get any ice cubes when I switch the button on in the left rear. I am not getting water. I have removed, to...

1. Keep freezer temp setting @ 5 degree.2. Check water supply with full pressure (Back of regrigerator) 3. Confirm shut off arm is not struck due to huge cubes stored in bucket. If so, please remove ice cubes.4. Check solenoid valve which allows water flow whenever required to ice maker is working.
Please follow the steps also given hereunder.

Close the freezer door completely. The dispenser will not work while thedoor is open. Place the ice bin in the proper position. Avoid placing ice inthe bin that was not made by the ice maker. The cubes may jam in the deliverychute. If ice is jammed in the delivery chute, remove it with a plastic utensil.Discard the ice in the bin and wash it if ice has melted around the auger. Drythoroughly before replacing it. Wait three minutes if the dispenser stopsdispensing ice after the arm has been held in for a long time. The dispensermotor will reset and will begin to dispense ice again.

Do I have to run water after changing filter?

Unless you want ice and water with little black flecks in it, you should flush the filter before you install it. They have loose particles in them. In the sink, fill a container deep enough to submerge the filter completely. Place the filter into the water and allow it to fill completely. (The bubbles will cease). Remove the filter and drain. Replace the filter into the container, other end up, allowing it to refill. Drain as before. Now install. Flush a gallon of water or so through the water dispenser. This should remove the remaining particles so that they will not wind up in your ice maker.

Hotpoint ice/water dispenser will dispense ice but not water

You may have a blocked filter. Has this even been changed since you have hook-up the water line, or did you recently just install a new filter. If so it may not be in right correctly. try removing it and reinstalling it.

Water line hooked up makes ice but no water from dispenser

Have a look at the back of the fridge. There are 2 valves that feed the ice maker and the water dispenser. Have someone push the dispenser button while you feel which solonoid activates.Once located, remove that single pipe from that valve and reactivate the dispencer button. If water shoots out then you know the problem is further on. I would suspect there is then an issue with the water filter. Remove it and inspect for defects. If the filter is old, suggest you replace it as they clog up reasonably quickly. Retry. Please let me know.

Ice maker not getting water after changing filter

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket?
Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
bin.
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice?
Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
compartment.
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
(right) position.
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position

REMEMBER:
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
maintained

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.
