Scanner error The power cord seems to get hot and than I get a scannererror when I try to use my HP 610 as a regular copier. One comment said to plug the HP 610 into the wall instead of a batteryback up. The cord still seems to get very and hot and than comes up the"Scanner Error" turn on and off message. Turning it on and off does not help the situation much.

I have an hp digital copier, stand alone, not connected to any computer. When I turn the power on the warm up message lasts for a long time. It then tells me there is a scanner failure and will not print....

Hello.

Give this a try (from HP Support):

The Scanner System Failure error occurs if the scanner bulb is not being heated up to the correct temperature or there is some other issue with the scanner hardware. Verify that the scanner bulb is lit.
Power cycle the all-in-one product and see if the error comes back. Perform the steps given below to power cycle your all-in-one product.

1. Shut the computer system off, then disconnect the all-in-one product from the power source. Leave the all-in-one product disconnected from the power source for at least one full minute.
2. Reconnect the power, then restart the computer system.

If it does, take it off of any power strip and plug it directly into a wall power outlet. The power strip may not be supplying enough power to the product. Cold ambient room temperatures may also cause this
error. Try moving the unit to a warmer room and see if the error reoccurs. The unit will need to be serviced if the bulb does not come on.

Perform a semi-full reset by following the steps given below:

Caution: A semi-full reset will reset or clear the following information:

* Return the user settings to the factory defaults
* Delete language and country settings on some models
* Fax logs
* Fax headers
* Fax speed dial information

Hope this helps.

I keep getting a scanner failure error

Let's try this. Turn power off, unplug the cord from the surge strip or wall socket. Leave unplugged for about 30 minutes, then plug back in and turn on. Hopefully this will fix your problem. Good luck.

HP Officejet 6310 scans once but then says scanner failure

hi,

that error message is nothing to do with the software part, it actaully hardware issue try the following,

1) unplug the machine and connect it to wall outlet directly,
2) unplug the power cord from the printer and press and hold ON for 1 min and release the ON button and plug it back..
3) Disconnect the power cord from the product.Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons and if printer turns off, turn it back ON and wait until it cmopletes its instialization and if still persists, it a hardware failure...............

HP Digital Copier 610 Carriage Error

Depending on where the paper jam happened and how you cleared it, you could have either "knocked the copier for a loop" or actually damaged the print carriage. The first thing I would do in your shoes is to turn off the copier and unplug the power cord from the back of the product.

Wait about 30 seconds or so to make sure any errors being held in the copier's memory by any residual electrical charge clears.

Plug the power cord back in to the back of your product and turn it on. My guess is that you'll be prompted to go through a cartridge alignment procedure. That may well clear up the problems you see.

Just in case, I'm posting a link to HP.com to instructions on how to clearn the electrical contacts on the print cartridges and print carriage. There are also instructions on this page regarding latching cartridges. These seem to be fairly easy processes, but if not done correctly, can result in continuing errors:

Resolving Print Cartridge Errors

Print back your results and good luck.
