Hello. If you havn't had a technician check your unit in the last two years you should consider a service call where the refrigerant level and several other factors will be checked and examined. Be sure to go with an established professional.

The "normal" indoor design temp is 75 degrees @ 75% relative humidity. So your air conditioner may not be operating under the same humidity levels as you recall from the past. Some people actually think their air conditioner will cool their home down well below 75 degrees; but that is not how they are designed.

The thermostat is not functional, therefore its not cutting off the compressor once the room air gets cooled to the temp setting of the thermostat, also the refrigerant gas may have leaked out some but not the entire refrigerant gas(freon, CF4, etc.), keeping the compressor running contentiously to come down to the set temp..............sodeep

Air conditioner takes long time to cool on my 2008 new beetle

You need to take your vehicle and get your system checked. You could have a clutch issue, low freon, compressor going bad, or a leak issue. All can cause the symptoms you are describing.

My Ac window unit keeps freezing up

Either the evaporator (front coil) is clogged with dirt, or you need some refrigerant. If refrigerant is very low, only one corner of the evaporator will get cold. So cold in fact that it will freeze. Then no more air can pass through that section of the evaporator, and the refrigeration will take place a little past that point. That keeps repeating itself until the whole evaporator is froze up. Look at the evaporator when you first turn on the air conditioner and "feel" the evaporator with your hands. The cooling should take place evenly from top to bottom, left to right.

A/c runs cool for about 20 minutes and then does not cool anymore. keeps running but does not cool.

Is the compressor still running or has it kicked out? The normal problem is that the unit is low on freon and the compressor is not cooling because of this. If the compressor is kicking off an feels hot to the touch but the inside coil is sweating when the compressor kicked off the compressor is going bad. On an outside chance the thermostat can be going out if you turn it to off or all the way down you should hear an audible click and again when you turn it up normally its good if the click is audible. good luck

Compressor not kicking in on 'cool'; or ;dry'

Have you checked that the controls are not set to fan only? If you have lets go to the next step. All window A/C have thermal switch.. These thermal switch keeps the compressor from overheating. In the event that the compressor is overloading it would trip then click back on as the compressor cools down. Sometimes those switches go bad but the compressor is ok. They are mounted on the compressor themselves and accesable once the A/C unit cover has been opened.

Compressor appears to kick in, runs for short time

It sounds like your unit may have a bad run capacitor or start capacitor and relay. Low voltage will also cause this problem. First you need to make sure that you have the full rated voltages at the unit, if you do, then, have the run and start capacitors checked out and the start relay.

The air conditioner is running fine but is not cooling

I have to ask this. If it's running fine, but not cooling, then it's really not running fine is it? ha-ha Sorry. Are you saying it's not cooling enough? Does compressor stay kicked in, or does it cut out early? Fan working o.k.? Give some more details and we'll see if we can help.

My roof dometic roof top air conditioner runs but will not cool when the motor kicks on it goes right back off and will not cool

Check run capacitor, or in the compressor wire box, there should be a little black overload that might be weak or loose connection.

Fedders Window AC

You may have thermostat problems. If the blower and compresssor kicks on, that indicates their ok. If you have a two wire thermostat, you can tie those wires together to see if the unit will operate. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT POWER.
