When i moved my kic chest freezer model kc0021-Aa, I heard an light explosive sound and now the freezer does not go on.

The following is the GE moving instructions. If you have started before the 24 hour rest period and the unit had been rotated from vertical have the compressor inspected.

FREEZER MOVING INSTRUCTIONS Please use the following steps when relocating an upright or chest freezer:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the wall receptacle.
  2. Remove the food, defrost, and clean the freezer.
  3. Use blankets to protect the freezer finish from scratches.
  4. Place the freezer on its side for moving only if you have no other choice.
  5. When transporting a freezer, keep it in an upright position. If transporting it in an upright position is not possible, lay it down on the compressor side of the unit. Be careful to secure the door to prevent it from opening.
  6. If it has been transported on its side, set it right side up in its final location and allow the freezer to sit for the same amount of time that it was on its side (24 hrs max.). Do not plug the unit into the electrical receptacle without allowing this settling time. The unit can be damaged if it is plugged in prematurely.

If the unit was transported in an upright position there is no waiting time required.

Hope this helps?

Transporting a Kenmore front load washer and gas dryer

Yes you can lay them down. Some modals call for 24 hour reaping time before you can plugin to run. Reaping meaning some modal have the new R134A coolant in them so if they lay down wait 24 hours before use. Gas you can just lay then down and brace it so it can't move around.

We need to transport a sam sung fridge freezer, is it ok to lay it on its side?

It is not a good idea to lay it on it's side. However it can be done and if you do it, the secret is when you get to where you are going stand it upright and do not plug it in for at least 24 hours. That gives the oil a chance to go back down where it belongs.Waiting 48 would be even better. Hope this helps.

I was told that I should wait 24 hrs before pluging in a refrigator that had been transported lying down. Is this true?

HI,Yes for most refrigerator you do have wait because the oils come out of the compressor so the oil must settle back down. But some refrigerators you do not have to wait if laid on their side, if it was new in box it will say on box "lay this side down" if not better safe then sorry.

Moved unit, wont get cold

did you transport it upright or laying down.... depending on who you talk to you will get a different answer... i have been in the appliance business for 18 years and have to say the more i hear they are transported laying down the more i hear troubles... either way after transported or moved they should be left sitting for approx. 24 hours to allow all the oil to settle back down,,,also could have developed a leak in the sealed system one of the refrigerant lines leaking.
