No. Baking soda is a mixture of two ingredients, soda and cream of tartar which combine to make a raising agent. Baking soda is sometimes used in recipes - I have a date cake recipe where you soak the dates in the soda and hot water first. Baking soda dissolved in warm water is also good for wiping down fridges without leaving a smell.

SOURCE: Wife washed oven out with soap and water and won't light

The reason was it was dirty and she dd not have oven cleaner. You need to clear out all the water. You may need to use a wet vac. After that you may need to let it dry out for a day or longer. You can use a hand held hair drier or a fan to speed up the process.

Does drinking bicarbonate of soda in water reduce acidity in the body?

It is not advisable to constantly ingest baking soda (sodium bicarbonate).
I boil water, after it has cooled I mix in not more than four teaspoons of baking soda to a quart of water, then put it in the fridge.
I drink about four ounces with the juice of half a lemon in the mornings. Rest one to three weeks before doing it again.

Will bicarbonate soda help with constipation if drink with hot water

Hello, Gaynore -

Apparently bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) in water can help relieve constipation. Read the information here:
https://homeremediesforlife.com/baking-soda-for-constipation/

The information on that web page also indicates that bicarbonate of soda can be mixed with lemon juice in water and drunk for some relief.

Note: Next time you are at the grocery store, you may wish to purchase a bottle of prune juice for future consumption to help relieve constipation. Read information here:
https://www.healthline.com/health/digestive-health/prune-juice-for-constipation#2

Best wishes.

How many teaspoons of baking powder equals one teaspoon of baking soda?

I'm by no means a baker, but the two are different. However, you can substitute, but you may not get what you are looking for and have to modify the recipe in other ways.

Generally, you will need 3 teaspoons of baking powder to equal a teaspoon of baking soda. But the baking soda is a base, and the baking powder is more neutral, so you may have to reduce the amount of acid in the recipe.

The following article explains it well.
