You have a defrost problem. You can defrost the unit down by removing the back panel and get a hair dryer and go back and forth over the defrost. Make sure that you don't get any of the coils too hot or you'll destroy your unit. But you'll need a meter to check which part or parts are bad. Do you have a meter? But you will either need a defrost timer, defrost heater or a defrost themostat. But you'll have to have a meter to OHM out the defrost heater. If your unit beeps then you'll need to replace the defrost timer and defrost themostat. If the heater checks bad then you'll need to replace only the defrost heater.

Refridgerator warm and freezer is icy cold

Frost free fridge freezers are very popular and auto defrosting fridges are a great convenience. In a frost free appliance the cold air is blown round the freezer using a fan. On modern refrigeration the evaporator (which is the plate that gets cold) is hidden behind the plastic wall inside at the back of the food shelves. When working correctly you can usually see small beads of ice randomly scattered on the back wall unless it's in a defrost cycle when you may see water.
Heater inside Believe it or not most modern refrigeration has a heater inside. This heater is used to defrost the appliance automatically. During the defrosting cycle the ice on the back wall melts and runs down the back wall into a channel. It is then directed through a hole out through to the back and runs into the evaporator tray. The evaporator tray is on top of the compressor which gets pretty hot and evaporates this water into the air.
Because the evaporator is behind a back panel the cold air has to be blown around the compartment with a fan motor. The defrost cycle also needs sensors and a timer and combined with several sensors throughout and PCBs to control everything the result is there is a lot more to go wrong than there used to be in old-fashioned conventional fridges. However, they are still fairly reliable.
Common problems with frost free fridge freezers If the door is left open for too long (especially in humid conditions) the evaporator freezes over and the unit will not keep the food cold. This problem (unlike the older machines) has a greater impact because you can't see the amount of ice built up around the back of the panel hiding the evaporator. In many frost free fridges the ice can form all the way round the fan and cause it to run slowly or even seize up. Prior to seizing up the fan may catch on the ice and make a high pitched noise. This will of course result in the fridge or freezer not getting cold. If you hear a strange noise from your frost free fridge freezer which sounds like something is catching on a rotating fan it could be due to ice forming around it.
If it stops working due to ice forming behind the evaporator and round the fan then defrosting the unit manually can fix it but it involves unplugging the unit for at least take 12 hours or so. You may not see much frost as it would be behind the back wall or behind the fan unit. You can't really use a hair dryer on modern units because they may have a thermal fuse which protects the defrost cycle. Also, even just getting to the evaporator to defrost it can be a mammoth task especially with some of the new American-style fridges. If a fault re-occurs later it could be due to faulty sensor but if the fault was only due to the door been left open for a few hours accidentally then a total defrost could work.
Whilst we are on with American style frost free fridge freezer's, because the door's are so big and can store so much, the opportunity to overload them is greater. This too causes warm air to pass into the unit and frost it up. Remember a frost free unit will not cope with too much ice on the evaporator so greater care must be taken to use it correctly and check the door seal's regularly.
Water or sheet of ice inside fridge
If your fridge has two sloping channels at the back wall and a hole in the middle this is designed to channel the water created on the defrost cycle through to the back of the unit where it runs onto an evaporator tray. This tray sits on top of the compressor and gets quite hot. The water simply evaporates. Sometimes this hole gets clogged up and prevents the water running out to this tray. The result is that water runs into be base of the unit. Very often the appliance will come with small tool for cleaning out this hole, but if not you can improvise.
If the water in the base of the unit is frozen solid it could be that the unit has malfunctioned and is over freezing. The blockage preventing the water running through to the evaporator tray could actually be solid ice.
Summary
It's common knowledge that most people rarely read the instruction book supplied with their new appliance. This is particularly true with something like a fridge or freezer. It's easy to imagine most people thinking you only need to plug it in, leave it plugged in, and fill it with food - what's to know?
I would advise anyone with a modern refrigeration appliance, especially the American-style fridge freezers, to carefully read the instruction book. Modern frost-free refrigeration units work very differently to a conventional fridge or freezer. It's even important to learn how to stack them properly otherwise you can prevent the air from circulating inside and cause warm spots.
You would be surprised at what you can learn from reading the instruction book.
Many User instruction manuals can be downloaded here. The page concentrates on washing machine manuals but links to appliance manufacturer sites where users such manuals for fridges, freezers and other appliances should also be available.

How does Auto defrost work and how long does it take

Hello there
A Look at the Defrosting System:
Modern refrigeration systems, whether industrial or household, feature a defrost system. A refrigeration system works by developing temperature below the water's freezing point. Long hours of continuous operation may lead to development of a layer of frost or ice around the freezer or the evaporator coil. This hinders the cooling capacity of the evaporator, making it difficult for the cooling effect to pass into the freezer. Without refrigerator defrosting, the layer of frost or ice leads to loss of cooling and lessening of performance coefficient of the refrigerator and higher electricity costs. There are various defrosting methods that your fridge can employ. Take a look at some of these defrosting methods.
Thermostat Defrosting:
Thermostat is a basic component in all modern refrigerators. The device allows you to set the freezer temperature that you want, depending on your requirement. Most often, a refrigerator with thermostat comes with a small plastic tray which can be found below the freezer compartment. This tray is where the excess water from your freezer goes to. The thermostat works by stopping the supply of power that is received by your compressor whenever the temperature that you have set has been reached.
The refrigeration unit stops producing the cooling effect whenever the thermostat stops, which happen several times a day. And during this stage, the frost or ice collected on the freezer starts to melt, with the resulting water collected in the tray. A small tube connects the tray to a small outlet usually located at the bottom back side of your refrigerator. A pan is installed there where the tube brings the water resulting from melted ice after defrosting.

Freezer icing up

Experienced this problem with Evaporator coil icing up (coil is located inside back wall of the freezer compartment; the ice/frost was visibly blocking the series of louvers or slots along the bottom of the freezer back wall. I think the power outage caused partial melting of an already somewhat iced coil, but when the power was restored the water on the coil just froze solid. When these slots become obstructed the Refrigerator will not cool to its proper 36-40 deg.F temperature and the compressor motor runs frequently and the noise level is louder than usual. SOLUTION: fastest and safest way to Defrost this iced up coil is: (1) turn off 120V power / unplug refrigerator from the outlet; (2) remove all food to another refrigerator / freezer and take out ice cube tray & flip icemaker bail wire to its up (off) position - but leave top freezer basket in-place; (3) remove Bottom freezer basket (which should lift up and out; (4) move refrigerator away from wall - and carefully unscrew and remove white-painted, rectangular metal panel at bottom in the back....... you will see a white plastic water tray below a small fan with black plastic blades...... have a 3x5 cellulose sponge and bucket handy...... (5) open freezer door all the way and set a 21-inch box fan on the floor in the opening or area where the Bottom freezer basket was removed... put a single towel on floor under the box fan if there is significant frost on the bottom of the freezer compartment (there should not normally be any); (5) turn the fan to "Medium" speed with air flow pointing toward the freezer... you will be amazed at how much faster this works than pans of hot water or hair dryers (the latter is potentially damaging and dangerous); (6) with a flashlight you should soon see the water drip-drip-dripping from a spot at the center and bottom of the Evaporator coil - where it goes down a white tube and into the white plastic pan beneath the small fan you saw in Step #4; after awhile (maybe 20 minutes) check the white plastic tray in the back - which will be full of water (sponge it out)... continue defrosting with the 21-inch box fan... check the plastic tray again - and sponge out the excess water. A completely iced-up coil will probably fill the plastic tray three times. Eventually the water will stop dripping - which means the Evaporator coil is completely defrosted. There may be some water that gets onto the floor under the left side of the refrigerator which you will have to wipe up. Reattach the metal panel and reinstall the Bottom freezer basket and ice tray. This process takes long enough that you can clean the inside of the refrigerator while you're at it.

Samsung RS253BAVQ freezer Keeps defrosting, and wont dump ice

One posibility is that it is not defrosting a all and that the ice is building up on the evaporator coil behind the rear cover inside the freezer. This condition will block the flow of cold air. Remove the back panel to see what your have. Either no ice , light frost, partial icing or heavy icing blocking the fins. Complete light frosting is normal.

Freezer not cold

Could be alot of things. First thing: fully defrost the unit. It might be ice. One way is to shut it for about 2 days and let the rest of the ice melt. Clean the condenser coils. Check door gaskets. Restart the unit and check for refrigerant amount: Find the compressor from the back, clean off the largest pipe. Start unit ( must be off for at least half an hour). It will frost up. Does the frost stop after 5 minutes? If icy,dry or wet, you are okay.

Make sure your doors seal properly.

After that, might be the defrost timer or the control panel. Hard to tell.
