Tomtom One 3rd Edition will show green light but will not turn on

While in Portugal I lost my Tomtom... it shows powered on, either via computer or car (green light goes on) but it will not turn on; I have reset it, followed all the instructions given to start this portable unit and still nothing.
When I tried to download TomTom via computer, my computer states that no device is connected even though the light is green.
Help... as I cannot afford to buy a new device and do not know my surrondings well enough to venture out.

    Where can I send my unit for repair? (I have also tried your solution to no avail); Tomtom states that they do not do any repairs in the US or Canada.

If you have an SD card in then remove it and try to boot it up.

It is possible that the SD card is corrupt or faulty.

If it does not power up with no SD card then it may well need to go in for repair.

Should you get it to boot without the SD card then back it up straight away.

Reformat your card (preferably in a card reader) and then restore to the card . You should then be able to put the card back in

    I had a quick look and there are quite a few places in both Canada and the US.



    There are service links on FIXYA unfortunatly they don't extend into Canada but do cover the US



    Not knowing where you I cannot point you to any one in particular so the best I can give you is the search terms I used "tomtom repair canada", "tom tom repair canada"

When power up it will come on
from what I understand here, ur problem is that the unit only turns on when hooked up to external power source, right?

If so, that means the battery is not holding any power and needs to be replaced soon. sooner or later it will start showing u a green battery light but nothing comes on the screen.

My TomTom One V3 won't switch on. The green light shows it as charging but it won't power up. Tried reset as discussed with TomTom
If reset not worked, then must open up, take out battery and then reset, then you must hook up USB and upgrade software, also maybe need to get new battery too, often battery seems OK, but not,.

Can u help my tomtom has a problem?
My TomTom 3rd g is acting up. It is not making a connection. The green bar run quickly and than the screen shows no hands / touch available. It will not go any further than that. It keeps running the same thing over and over again.

Tomtom not turning on
It sounds like the dreaded green light of death. The TomTom car chargers for this model and older had a inherit problem with sending more than the requaired amount of power to the TomTom 3rd edition and older models. When the extra power is supplied a diode in the TomTom burns out, but the green power light will come on.

I downloaded updates for my tomtom One 3rd ed. updates show on my computer but not on my tomtom.
Tomtom home software usually does the updates.

Check that the AUTO option is not disabled.

You might also want to upgrade to TTH 2.7 if that is not your version.

My tomtom one 3rd edition GPS will not turn on
charge it for 3 to 4 hours on both the usb cable and the CLA car charger....make sure that the green light is in...if not...it is the charger...if the green light is on, and still not turning on..then the battery is shot.....needs to be sent in for repair..providing it is under the 1 year warranty

Cannot acces my Tom Tom drive

Is the tomtom showing as an external drive if you access it via my computer on your pc.

If it is showing as a external drive you should be able to copy and past the files back to you tomtom

Just out of interest for what reason did you need to formatt your tomtom.

The screen is frozen and will not turn off. If I reset it, it won't move pass the first screen.
A little trick:

1. Make sure the device is off and connect it to your computer via USB (green light should be on)
2. Hit the reset button on the bottom.
3. Hold down the power button until the device restarts.
4. The device should automatically connect to your computer.
5. Run TomTom HOME and check for any updates.
6. If there is no new application, try: www.tomtom.com/9091 <-- that will show you how to remove and then reinstall the application.

Then, install Tom Tom Home:

IMPORTANT:
Make a full backup, better safe, than sorry...
Do this backup vith explorer or similar,
just copy ALL content from device to a folder on your computer.
Remember to set explorer to show hidden and system files.

Connect device to pc, update device via TomTom Home....
