Cuisinart DGB-500 Filter basket opens during brewing process
We have had the Cuisinart DGB-500 for less than one year and have been experiencing the same problem. On numerous occasions (i have lost track), the filter basket opens during the brewing process. Normally, we have the coffee maker programmed the night before. In the morning, not only do we not have fresh brewed coffee, we have a mess to clean up. Coffee spilled EVERYWHERE. We have changed the carafe, the basket, and the filter, but continue to experience the same problem

Re: Cuisinart grind and brew model DGB900BC leaking from the bottom. Finally fixed it before buying a new one. Remove the 4 torq screws (#10 bit check auto stores) from the bottom and remove the bottom. You will see a horse shoe shaped metal coil that heats the water from the resevoir. I found that the coil had a small hole in it. Cleaned it well and applied a coat of epoxy paste to the leaking area ( I used a product called PC11 from Ace) So far, no leaks, and the coffee maker is working like new.
You can push the soft rubber stop or valve back on the plunger stem with the flat side down. It can pull out if you are rough with it or if the plunger gets stuck in your dishes drip rack. But if it is torn you need to order a new basket because I don't think the parts are sold separately.
Try an experiment - brew a test cup, but use only a small amount of grounds in the brew basket (use a paper filter) [or else, put the grounds in the gold tone filter basket]. See if the machine makes coffee (albeit weak coffee). If it does not make coffee, see if the water is draining properly from the brew basket, or if it is leaking over the sides of the brew basket. Also, make sure the lid to the brew basket is completely open and in the correct position.
If you still get water only in the caraffe, replace the brew basket. The part costs about $11.95 with shipping - or even call Cuisinart to see if your 3-year warranty will cover the issue.
DGB-300 - continuously beeping indicates that something is out of place - either the grind basket isn't exactly in place, the filter basket is loose, the water filter holder is out of place, or the lid of the coffee maker is open.
