Washer Stops Mid-cycle

Whirlpool Washer washer stops mid-cycle. It goes through the initial motions agitates and stops when it appears it should begin draining and rinsing (so it works for the first 10 or so minutes.) I have already replaced the timer with no success (with new timer the washer exhibits the same issue) and have checked the tubes for blockages (there were none I could see.) I removed the pump and inspected it as well.

If I set the timer to Heavy or Light, it will stop at the same spot, meaning that it will go through the entire heavy process as the timer proceeds towards the light wash cycle.

The Timer stops exactly in the middle between the Light and the Rinse and stop permanently

Washer will fill both small and large loads, and also will use hot or cold water as directed by the nobs on the control panel. Oddly enough it will agitate if I manually select the timer to rinse, but only for a short before it just abruptly stops.

This issue exists for all the different modes of wash (Regular, Permanent Press, Casual.)

Inspection of the wires and other tubes reveal no obvious sign of problem.

HI. this is a defective timer mechanism. it must be replaced asap, if possible. the timer is the principal initiator of the units cycles. The motor is defective at this point.

Replace this damaged timer control device asap.

Agitator continuously on

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Lid Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Timer If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Stops in the middle of wash cycle

Hi!

If the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Washer stops in mid cycle

This is probably normal. There is a natural pause between agitating and draining, and again between draining and spinning. Hope this helps!
