You have to press the house, menu, and end key at the same time ...wait until a triangle shows up on the screen then it will give you the options , this resets everything so save contacts, picture and other things youd like to keep

Ok so i got a G1, and the problem is it wont turn on. even when i charge it, it wont turn on. The farthest it goes it to opening where it says G1 and then it turns off after that. Whats wrong with it, do i...

Try hard resetting it once. But make sure you have enough charge. But this will erase everything.

To perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn the phone off. If it is frozen, take the battery out and put it back in.
  2. Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the middle.
  3. Press Alt+L.
  4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.
  5. Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds.

How to hard reset or factory reset T-Mobile G1 phone

Hard reset or Factory reset will restore the phone back to its factory settings; the way it was when it was first bought or the way it was when it left the factory.
Note that this will erased the entire phone's memory (NOT memory card) and settings to the way it was when it was first bought.

How to hard reset or factory reset T-Mobile G1 phone:

  1. Switch off your G1. *If it won't your phone won't switch off, take out the battery and reinsert it after a few seconds.
  2. Now press the 'Power' key and 'Home' key at the same time and hold it for 20-25 seconds.
  3. Then you will see on your screen a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle.
  4. After that, press 'Alt+L' key on the QWERTY keyboard (to clean the phone completely).
  5. Next, press 'Alt+W' key (to factory reset it)
  6. Again, press and hold 'Power' key and 'Back' key at the same time for 20-25 seconds.
  7. The reset is complete.

G1 is frozen after new system update its been 30mins and i already took the battery out to restart it

This was copied from a site on the web. I personally have used the instructions below and it worked for restoring my G1. Once it is restored, you may want to try to run the update again.

1. Turn the G1 off. If it’s frozen on, take the battery out and put it back in the unit.

2. Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the middle.
Now to wipe the device clean:

3. Press Alt+L.

4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.

5. Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds.

The phone should reset again and the hard reset is complete.

My G1 phone wont factory reset itself and i dont know what to do, im not sure if i can still return my phone and get a new one because i had it since March 13,2009

Have you tried a reset using the hardware buttons? To perform this, you need to turn off the phone first. While it is off, press and hold the home key and the power key at the same time. Keep holding the buttons until you see a screen with a triangle and an exclamation point in the middle. Once you see the triangle, let go of the buttons and open the keyboard. Press ALT+W at the same time, and the phone should reset.

G1 wont delete text msgs

Hi there.
Factory reset will delete everything (not in all cases though) back all your numbers up to the sim card, back photo's and games up to the memory card (if you have one) and restore the phone to factory.
As for any messages forget them.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
