Strange image on Samsung DLP TV.

My nearly-new Samsung DLP HL-5687S TV has begun to show a purple-ish blue "X" figure on the bottom middle half of the screen that is about a foot in diameter. It is only visible when the screen is dark. Is this a "light cone" problem? How can it be fixed?
