back up your data first, thenyou reformat the memory card in the camera.i guess you have formatted the memory card in another device.canon cameras generally do not accept cards that have been formatted in another device.then sitch off the camera and reinsert the memory card.
Let's work on the camera first.
1) Turn the camera off and remove the battery and the card.
2) Put the battery back in without the card and turn it on.
3) Turn the camera off and insert the CF card.
4) Turn the camera back on again.
See if that takes the message away.
If it doesn't leave me a comment and we go to step 2.
If it does, thanks for coming to FixYa.
Remove the card and look inside the card slot of the camera to see if there are any bent pins. If you do find bent pins, you can try to bend them straight (it will be tough). If you do, DO NOT use a metal object. Use plastic or wood only.
So as not to spoil your vacation, go buy yourself a new compact flash card locally. They should sell them anywhere electronics are sold, including WalMart, etc. See if you can get this new card to work in your camera. If so, then you can work on trying to get your current CF to work, by trying to format it in the camera.
If you can't get a new CF to work in the camera, then you likely damaged either the pins in the CF socket in the camera, or some switch that is pushed when the card is inserted (to tell the camera there is a card in it). It is unlikely you will be able to have this fixed during your vacation, unfortunately.
Hi Chittu,
This error usually happens when there's problem reading and writing from the Flash memory card (CF).
Did you try to pull the memory card before the camera finished writing data?
Here's what you should do - try using another memory card. If it works, it means that the original one is damaged.
Let me know if this helped.
