I have the same problem also. And like you I feel that I spent way too much money on the Avic D2 for it to go out so fast. Now because the touchscreen does not respond on the right side I can't get my backup camera to work or my dvd player to work either because they all work off of the Avic D2. Mine also started with this issue about 1-1.5 years after installation. The letter R being unresponsive was one of the first signs that I noticed it was going bad and now the OK button won't even work so I can't even get into it anymore. What a waste!
Right there with you, I have a avic d2 as well. my screen is not working at all. I work on stereos, and can not fix it myself, because Pioneer will not sell the ribbon cable needed to fix it. You must ship the unit to them, and pay $180 for a five minute repair. I used to buy only Pioneer, I have moved on to alpine. Pioneer has gone way, way down hill as soon as they stopped making there product in Japan.
