If such a thing exists, it would be on eBay or Froogle. However, that is so wide, I doubt a lens hood exists for it, as it would cause a lot of vignetting.

Hi there, Tig is very brite. If your seeing spots I would try another hood for awhile. If the battery is to weak or you can't adjust up to shade 12 for tig it can be very hard on your eyes.I would try a regular hood on some scrap and see how that works.I couldn't change the battery in my hood so I just had to buy another one.One other thing check for leaks in your hood. You've already done that more than likely. Do you need a cheater lens?
Local camera "shows" might be a good place for you to look - the glass is sold by RITZ so you could check with them - also I am a firm believer in buying the manufacturers own glass - it costs more but you will always be able to get accessories for the glass and in most cases the glass is much better quality. I recognize for some this is no issue but if you ever need to resell you equipment - something I do ever 18 months - you will find the aftermarket glass - tamaron, tokina - vivitar - and quantaray all suffer major hits because they are less expensive alternatives to factory glass...

di_nick34 solution about removing sand, I removed the lens hood adaptor, and blew air between the gap, re-screw adaptor on. Heard a few clicks - must have broken some minute dust/dirt. Remove hood again, and further blowing. Must have removed the dirt stuck in the gap. Camera now works fine.Hope others with similar problem waill have same success.
I have one that had the same problem...it needs to be re-chipped to work with the newer camera's. It worked great on my N80 just not on my D-50...I got the F-- error when the exposure meter shut off. Send it to thk photo to be rechipped....takes about 3 - 4 weeks, gets cleaned and re-calibrated for about $83.
The VX2000 lens does have a 58mm diameter thread for filters etc. The 72mm refers to the focal range (Zoom) from 6mm to 72mm. The 58mmm lens hood should fit, but I strongly suggest you obtain a SONY OEM lens hood with lens cap. Goto http://www.pro-cam-electronics.com or other professional camcorder sites for these items.
Were you ever able to locate the BH-777 hood? I'm looking for one as well.
I have the same problem trying to get a 12-24 lens hood Tokina
