Vaio replacement battery "plugged in. not charging"

For this kind of issue, you may try the following troubleshooting steps for confirmation:
1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure your vaio vgn-cr510e power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Sony vaio not charging while charger plugged in

Seemingly your laptop dc jack is dead. How to confirm it? If you should wiggle your laptop charger on a position to let your laptop charge, it indicates your dc jack is loose. Either replace it or repair it. If your dc jack works well, please check your ac adapter. Maybe your charger is dead.

There is a light on the power but if you press it on.... no lights at all

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

The ac power plug was broken loose on my sony vaio vgn fw140e and finally the laptop failed to power up. I'm pretty sure the power adapter came loose from the mother board . I just don't know how to fix...

1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.

Sony Laptop no power

Hello.

The most common reasons are the power adapter/cord and power jack.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.
The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

Laptop won't charge

You might need a new battery....you could try removing the battery, plug laptop into ac and restarting. Or you might need a new DC power jack. If you wiggle the cord where it plugs into the laptop, and it starts to charge normally, then the DC power jack needs replacing. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-sony-vaio-vgn-s360p-replace-broken-power-jack/

Laptop will not boot, Sony Vaio VGN CR220E, lights come on, don't hear the Hard drive start up, however. I get the clunks from the CD drive, but that's all.

Hi,
Such problems happen when you have either faulty RAM or faulty Mother Board. Repairing MotherBoard Chip is a costly affair but replacing RAM is convenient and most probable solution.

I have sony vaio VGN-140G, no power on. The AC adapter is good. Only conect the mother board and no power on.

Has the ac adapter been tested with a volt meter? Sounds like it could be the ac jack or the motherboard. try removing the battery and trying it. My company charges $100.00 to replace ac jacks. If it's the board try your luck on ebay.

Would any 16volt ac adapter be ok to charge my PCG-VX89 vaio notebook?

you can use any laptop AC adapter DC output-16V and 4A (current). if its jack size natch your laptop DC jack.
if the adapter DC current less than 4A (over 2.5A at least) you should only make the battery charging without laptop turn on!!!
please take a rating let me know how much helped you thanks!
