Phoenix digital 1.5 farad capacitor installation

I lost my installation instructions for this capacitor. I know I need to "charge" it before I install it and I have to use a bulb or something to do it. But how is it done, and once that is done how should it be connected to the amplifier.

First off Charging the capacitor can put you holding a high power voltage source. This can be very dangerous. It is enough to kill you. I suggest for safety go ahead and mount the capacitor in its location. The easy way to charge a capacitor is using a 12 volt Battery Charger. Hook the charger up to the capacitor just like it is a battery. + to + and - to - ... Charge the capacitor until the charger meter falls to near zero amps or indictates full charge. No need to use a light bulb or anything. The Charger comes with it own limiting circuitry. I will be posting the wiring instruction shortly.

The Red wire coming from the fuse and battery should come to the Capacitor Plus. Then another red wire from capacitor plus to your Amp 12 volt +. Tie the minus to body ground, more than likely uner the same screw or bolt where you amps black wire is tied.

Blower motor doesn't start with capacitor installed!

you need a meter that will measure uf (micro farads) it should read within about 10% of the rating 12.5uf otherwise you could charge it with an insulation tester (megger) and short the terminals with an INSULATED screwdriver to see if it discharges.

Hey i had 2 car amps +for 4 speakers(140W maxi) and a sub 12inch

1 cap, either .5, 1 or 1.5 farad will be fine. they make 5 10 and 20 farad that cost way more than u need to spend for 400 watts RMS. i like the rockford fosgates, you can get a low cost Tsunami, just make sure you follow the charging instructions.

35 Farad hybrid power capacitor not charging like instructed in manual, tryed charging the cap throgh the supplyed resistor "2watt/10ohm" between power cable and cap.But nothing happens seems like it dosnt...

Yes you certainly wire the 12v+ wire directly to the positive post of the stiffening Capacitor, however if you have a one of those test light probes to check for current on a car? They are really cheap but what i do is clamp the one end on to the battery and than touch the probe to the + teriminal of your capacitor, when the light goes out your cap is fully charged. Now if the light does not go all the way out or stays on you have a bad capacitor, and might i ask why the hell are you driving to need a 35 Farad Capacitor anyway?? Damn.. We do show and competition cars here and sometimes use them. I like the BatCap way better, it's a Battery and a Capacitor all in one. Way strong like bull..... good luck... Mark
