My GE side by side refrigerator's water/ice dispneser just stopped working. It was fine an hour ago and no water/ice now. Freezer felt cold so I turned temperature down, just in case that would help.

TRY DISCONNECTING THE ICE MAKER FROM INSIDE AND RUN HOT WATER OVER IT UN TIL IT IS COMPLETELY THAWED, THEN RECONNECT IT AND SEE IF IT WILL MAKE ICE NOW. SOMETIMES ICE MAKERS CAN BECOMED BLOCKED BY ICE.
If both stopped at the same time. Check the water control valve in the back of the refrigerator. Make sure the wires are connected and have not become loosen.
The GE Profile is a complex but efficient refrigerator. We will need to check a few things like the evaporator, defrost element, defrost thermostat and the mother board. Let me know if you want me to go through this with you, Thanks, Sea Breeze
At this moment I think that you need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice maker to stop the leaking. Any extra water inside the freezer will make it harder for the defrost to remove the moisture. While the ice maker is out I want you to look to see if water is still leaking out the fill tube that feeds the ice maker tray. If it is then we found the reason. If not then we need to check some of the parts on the ice maker. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze
My old GE stopped working not too long ago too. Same thing, water to the back and no further. I replaced the pump ($25) and it worked fine. I found the pump at an appliance repair shop, they ordered it for me, a few screws and such and it worked! Good luck.
sound to me that the unit may be stuck in defrost. look for the time clock and or if it is a newer unit check your condenser coil it may be dirty. the unit may also have a leak on the refrigeration side of it.
its iced up and needs to be thawed. you can use a hair dryer and make it fast in say 2 hours. the freezer side is blocked from admitting cool air to the fridge side. your defrost timer may be defective or you had a real humid situation that caused it to ice up.
