Screen is black even though the green light is lit
I have a 32" LG (32LB9D) TV and it was turned off w/o the remote. When you manually turn the TV back on the green light illuminates but nothing happens. Nothing shows up on the screen or any sound comes from the speaker. The TV is connected to Direct TV satellite receiver. Any thoughts?

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.
Is it repairable, well, this question can be answered only after opening the back cover and evaluating the damage. From you side, please connect the TV to a different power outlet where other similar devices are working and see. Then try changing the input device to something that sure works. If it does not work even then, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.
You need to replace some bad capacitors on your power supply. Easy fix and you can do it yourself for less than $15 parts. I order mine from Digi-Key. Check out some videos on youtube for plasma and lcd repair.
You will need to identify which capacitors are bad on your power supply and order ones with same same ratings (micorfarads, volts, temp and actual size).
Good luck
Could be a bad powersupply in the TV since you did unplug it and try to start it up it maybe you got a bad power unit inside these can be replaced for under $150. If you Tv is under warranty I would suggest you bring it in for a repair. Thanks for using Fixya.com please hit the ACCEPT button and give a good review thanks.
The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.
Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.
I had a similar problem with my HANNSLounge 32", the screen switched on with green light but none of the front panel buttons worked (screen is black apart from showing the input source in the top left).
After powering off numerous times I tried starting up with a blank SD card in the reader and the tv cycled between red green and blue screens and then reset itself. (Some sort of firmware restore?) After which point I had a working screen again! (Will have to see how long it lasts for!)
Did anyone find out the solution for this??????? I have the exact same problem with my LG 32 LCD. I only had it for a year and a half, and the green light blinks a few times and it shows no picture. Not even a red light when the tv is off. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago and by some miracle it started working again.
