I bought and installed a quickcam IM plus. Videos choppy.

Try lowering your screen resolution, and don't download / view videos in HD. Test with lower like 480 and maybe 720. Mine can't even handle 720 by the way.

the films are saved in mpg4 format so you will need a viewer that can handle that codec a free one such as quicktime from apple would be a good choice.
down load the player free, ensure you download a version realtive to the operating system you have installed on your machine.

Oh, this is easy. It's your laptops video card processing the video format slowly. Try converting to something like WMV. This happens a lot with uncompressed video files. This problem is worse on laptops than desktops.

Choppy videos will most likely be caused by a video driver not being installed.

Drivers will be available for download from the apple site.

did you try to insert the drivers for the quickcam into the new computer, somethings can be plugged and played but you may need the installation discs for the cam.

when watching online videos they're choppy, but after I download to realplayer and play back they're fine. I just can't watch any movie trailers or any online videos, too choppy and pause, I downloaded speed bit accelerator, but doesn't seem to be helping. what can I do. I have a vista home basic

Your computer was dimensionned for Os 9 and is globaly a little bit weak (sorry) to read full screen videos and 16 bit sounds. on the internet (apple.com and youtube) the videos are over compressed to fit in small connections. But reading .avi or .mp3 necessits hard computing. (sorry for my english)

The video is choppy because your computer is not powerful enough to decode the video. The imac g3 was a great computer in its day but it was never designed to run the graphically intensive programs of today. OS 10.4 already places a lot of demands on an older machine. Adding youtube video only exasperates the problem as there simply isn't enough processing power or memory to run the pretty aqua user interface of OS 10.4 and decode video at the same time.

Adding more ram may help (256 MB is not very much these days) but truth be told I don't think you will see much of an improvement given the low power of the G3 processor. Sorry to say it, but if you want to watch flash videos (youtube) with any level of reliability you are going to have to look for a newer machine. You probably could find a used imac g5 for a good price on ebay or maybe treat yourself to a new imac. Rumour has it Apple will be coming out with a new model in the next few days (weeks) so keep on eye out for that if your thinking of buying new.

ok.. the problem is on the other side or maybe your friend has a problem. tell your friend to close his mike near to his mouth and tell him to speak loud. or let your friends change his mike.. may be his mike has big problem.. thanks
