I have a MSI KT4 Ultra Motherboard 6590 1.0 and after installing Vista(from XP) I now have no audio driver and hence no sound. I have tried Driver Detective but that has failed to find one. Can you help? The silence is killing me!
This one should work for you:
C-MEDIA CMI8738 / CMI8768 / CMI8768 Sound Driver 8.15 beta
Hi! It's not uncommon for a new installation of Windows to render a PC mute. It's happened to me on several occassions, but do not dispair.
After one round or two of Windows Updates, your device will be detected as missing its drivers and they will be downloaded and installed for you.
This happens with generic motherboards which use less known built-in devices such as the sound card, the video card, etc. Should your motherboard be an Intel, Asus, or other popular name brand, you run less of a chance to get this problem.
Please run Windows Update a couple of times, or until you're satisfied your machine is up to date.
Good luck!
