Canon XL1S eats tape as soon as it's inserted.

It needs to go in for cleaning and service. It is a vintage recorder and the rubber feed capstans are probably sticky and need replacing.

It is a known issue.

Troubleshoot/canon/camcorders/elura 2mc

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot your Canon Elura 2MC camcorder:
  1. Make sure that the camcorder is charged or that the battery is properly installed.
  2. Check that the memory card is properly inserted and has enough available space to record.
  3. Check the connections between the camcorder and any external devices, such as a TV or computer.
  4. If the camcorder is not turning on, try resetting it by removing the battery and reinserting it.
  5. If the camcorder is still not working, try cleaning the heads by following the instructions in the manual or by contacting a professional for assistance.
If you have tried these steps and are still experiencing problems with your camcorder, you may want to try contacting Canon customer service for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with more specific troubleshooting steps based on your particular camcorder and the issues you are experiencing.

When I inserted a new dv cassette into the camcorder to record - it chewed the tape then the "eject" message came up, I inserted a new tape and the eject message showed up again. I have also noted a whine...

This can be caused by several problems including the transmission gear in the tape mechanism not engaging properly or a defective clutch in the take-up spool and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Every time i put a tape in to play or record, it keeps ejecting it why??

Please be more specific. When you insert tape, the tape housing extract to its body, or it just stays still and eject your tape.

Where can I get a cd to download from the camcorder to my compute

The ES8200V is not a digital camcorder. It was made to record analog video on 8mm tape.

When I insert a tape, the screen flashes "reinsert cassette".

Hit your camera several times with a flat hand (bottom, tape side). Its strange but my problem was solved. On internet I found maybe 10 or 15 other people who did the same.  Really works!

My GL2 camera constantly wants me to eject tape!!  I am unable to use my camera because it forces me to eject  the tape. I've switch tapes and use new tapes and still the same  results. Only time it...

The immediate remedy may be cleaning the video heads. The head is not receiving the data from the inserted tape because it may be clogged. Use head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds but NO MORE. Try again, if not you may need to clean and adjust by trained technicians. Good luck -James. For further assistance, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Canon ZR70 MC Mini Digital Video Camcorder...Not ejecting

Typically, the problems of this sort tend to be one of a mechanical nature; In other words, the case may be bent, causing this problem. Does the machine make a "motor noise" as the well opens? And then makes a "binding noise" before coming to rest? This would be a definite cause for your dillema, and a camera shop visit would be in order, unless you have some mechanical aptitude....accordiaman
