Check your breaker. Possible electrical problem could cause other problem if not checked. Call service tech ask for free estimate. Russ

At times it starts and runs fine. Then at times it starts and stops because the circut breaker in my house has been tripped.

Check the amp rating on the circuit breaker. It's probably 15 amps. Find another line with a 20 amp breaker, and see if it still trips.

Compressor will not start without tripping breaker?

Circut breakers trip due to a short circut or an overload. In this case the likely cause is an overload. If your compressor is drawing more amperage than the breaker is designed to allow, the breaker trips for safety. Possible solutions. Try using a different outlet with fewer appliances or tools on that circut. If the outlet you are using is on a circut that also has lighting, appliances etc, each item is drawing amps, the addition of the compressor to the circut is pushing the amp limit over the top. You can also try a heavier duty extension cord. If you are using an extension that is rated too low for the required amperage your breaker will trip. If you are not using an extiension cord you may need to talk to an electrician about adding another circut to service your tool and garage needs.
Another possiblity is that your service is not upgraded enough. If you have a 60amp service for the house you might want to talk to an electrician about upgrading to 100amp or more.

Came home from work to find that my circut breaker was tripped for my furnace...what and why caused this...i flipped the breaker back on and smelled like it fried the control board....why did it do this

Hi,
The most likely cause was a power surge. The surge from the power line into your house wil fry the board and trip the breaker at the same time. Then when you turn the breaker back on it will continue to fry the board....
Whole house surge protection can help to stop some of the surges, but may not toally protect you from them. Some are too large to be completely stopped with normal surge protection devices.
There are many deivices out that will provide surge protection and some like these that will provide surge protection and can help to save you money.
