After installing it, I tried to used it but a windows error keeps on appearing. Also, i uninstalled it and re-installed and the same problem keeps occuring. Also, because of that i can't really do anything with the webcam --- it doesn't let me have a webcam conversation with anyone. I don't know what im supposed to do with this. I don't know if its because of my windows vista or something im not sure.

Google Logitech Vid and download it, it will work well with the Life Cam 1.4 and you can connect to anyone, anywhere. I have Vista HP and my cam works without the Logitech software, so I now have two methods of connecting to others. You might also want to go to MSN update and let it find the newest downloads, that's what I did and it worked right away.
My soft ware wont install it keep saying that it is missing some files.
Microsoft LifeCam would not install on Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I tried everything suggested, but nothing would work until I installed the update that allows Vista to recognize >2G ram. I have 6G on this system. I installed http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=941600

I cannot get my camera to come on to poduce a picture of me to send out to my relatives. I can see them fine. When hooking up it told me that it did not recognize my camera. I tried to talke it all out and start from strach but It wont let me get to that point were I worked with the sound and the camera. Any Help ???
My current operating system is windows XP. The software works fine, but when I connect my webcam the green light that was supposed to light up didn't, and it says there was a problem installing the hardware. When I try to video chat, it doesn't show up. It's as if I never connected it. It's really annoying me, and I've tried to download the software from the website, but the same problem occured. It's worked on my other PC, which is also windows XP, so it doesn't appear to be the computer's problem.

Same problem. I have Vista and downloaded Lifecam 1.4 but it is so inconsistent I find it unusable. I purposefully bought the XV-6000 because it was a premium price and seemed like a premium product. It may be but the Vista JUNK prevents it from working.
Dont use the 1.4 use the 1.3 version. Thats what i had to do.

I had the same problem and stumbled across it and it helped a lot.
It's pretty easy.
Open up regedit (Start -> run -> type: regedit, hit enter)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
Double click on "LowerFilters" delete any value found. (Should be: lvmvdrv or LVUSBSta).
restart your computer.
Should work now.

Yep mine doesn;t work either.... it works fine with msn, but when i click on the lifecam icon on the desktop it says it has a fault, won;t work, hasd to close.... reinstallled it doesn;t work, so searching for things to make it work so i can record vids with it now..

My webcam stops working. Once I install the drivers of my Microsoft LifeCam 1.4 onto my computer which is running Windows Vista 32bit the camera works ok. After some time (day or two) when I go to start the camera again it tells me that I need to install the drivers.

Well i just installed windows vista to my pc before i installed that program my webcam worked perferctly and now that i have vista, i'm not able to have video converstations. and when i go to take pictures the screens says that i dont have it connected when it's fully connected to the computer can someone help me.
I downloaded 2.01 off of MS's website and still doesn't work
place the cd in the reader(any of two) and get a result until the last block of the progress bar - it stops for 90 seconds or so and then restarts - I have seen this happen on 5-6 times and then I give up. The disk is genuine MS.
The camera worked for one day when bought and then packed in. On occasions I have managed to get it to work for just a day - seems to be workshy - I should have known better than buying a camera from Microsoft - and I thought I was experienced.
In installation it will sometimes tell me that there is a lack of space on the disk (50GB available) or some other error - when I MS going to fix it
