Re: my tv is blank after I connect the 15 pin cable to...
You have to enable eigther Daul Display in display properties or Cloned display. Most laptops have a funtion key (Fn) on the keyboard and an F key (usually F4) that toggles this funtion. the F key will have a picture of a screen on it.

Assuming the laptop IS running at least the POST tests:-
1. Try shining a torch into the screen t see if you can see any figures or characters. If so, your backlight is defective.
2. Try connecting an external monitor via the 15 pin D-type connector usually found on most laptops. If it works, get into the BIOS to check he BOOT SCREEN setting is set to LAPTOP LCD or LCD+EXT. If the LCD is dark in any case it could be the graphics chip OR the LCD is faulty.
I dont believe that laptop has an HDMI port on it. If you have an LCD TV then your TV may have a VGA or DVI input on it. You can connect your laptop to the TV by using a VGA to VGA or VGA to DVI cable. If you your TV doesn't have one of these input ports, then you're not going to get your laptop connected to your TV.
You can use the VGA cable which has 15 pins at both ends. For sound, you will need mini stereo phone plug at both ends.
You will have to use the combo key Fn and either F5, 6, or 7 to select the internal, external, both.
Make sure to set the video resolution to the native resolution of this TV otherwise you will get 'Format nor supported' on the screen.
I had the same problem with my Samsung series 6 32" Lcd. After many hours of trying different settings and banging my head on the wall I found the solution. What the problem is your VGA cable not supporting the high resilotion of your Samsung TV. The simple solution is to buy a new VGA cable that supports HD. Take a look at this site you need something like this one! Hope this helps.....C
Check your resolution output from laptop it maybe set to high for the TV to handle, also go to the Display Properties and ensure that the second monitor out is enable. Good luck!!
From user manual (page 68): Your computer comes with a built-in display panel, but you can also connect an external display device to an available video port, as follows: ❖ An external monitor or projector via the RGB (monitor) port ❖ A TV, VCR, or DVD recorder via the S-video (TV-out) port Before connecting an external monitor or video projector, configure your computer for the type of device you are connecting. To do this, refer to the documentation for your operating system and devices
So you have to use an RGB cable or a S-video cable : your cable should be plugged into 15 pin VGA port in your PC and plug it into a correspondent port in your TV. Try also S- video and select correponding input in your TV set (Both connection type DO NOT carry sound: use your audio connector from PC to TV audio input.) Configure your extended screen using your manual instruction: Once you have connected an external display device, you can choose to use the internal display only, the external device only, or both simultaneously. The quickest way to change the display output settings is to use the display hot key (Fn + F5): 1 Press Fn and F5 simultaneously. 2 While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the setting you want takes effect. Briefly pause each time you press the F5 key to allow time for the display to change. This hot key cycles through the settings in the following order: ❖ Built-in display only ❖ Built-in display and external monitor simultaneously ❖ External monitor only ❖ Built-in display and TV ❖ TV only
Every laptop has at least a VGA (computer video connection) and s-video cable port. A VGA cable is preferred if you want to be able to read text on your LCD TV. Check to make sure that your LCD TV has a VGA connector. It's a port that accepts a 15-pin connection so it's pretty easy to spot if it's there. It's just like a computer monitor cable if that helps. Should be able to find it at any local retail store that carries computers. VGA or RGB cable.
There are two possible problems:
1. You are connecting a 15-pin (on the laptop) to the 9-pin (on the TV) connection. This isn't the video-in connection for the TV. The TV has a DB-15 connection near its DVI input connector. You should be using a 15-pin to 15-pin cable. The DB-9 connector on the TV is a serial port for servicing the TV.
2. You aren't enabling the external video port for the laptop. Try hitting Fn+F5 on the laptop to cycle between the three display modes: laptop only, laptop + TV, TV only. Make sure to wait a few seconds after hitting Fn+F5 to let the displays sync up.
