HOW TO INITIATE SET-UP PROCEDURE FOR 2ND HAND VIDEO/DVD PLAYER

Have already TV set but DVD/video recorder/player has jammed. Bought 2nd hand replacement but can only play pre-recorded videos as unable to record direct from TV. How do we marry up the replacement video recorder that is presumably still 'married' to some other TV set? We have no instruction book to assist the tuning of recorder to the TV channels..

You should have the main aerial going into the dvd and then a black flylead going back into the tv.If you go into the on screen menu you find a set section so you can re-tune the stations.

Could you help me with my playback issues? (Already contacted LG, with no avail)

It's very possible from your description that the recording function was defective from the beginning and never worked, but here's what to try now to find out if it is just a technical issue in the way you have been doing it, or if the machine is defective. Use a DVD+R disc (not -R or -RW). Set to SP mode (it may be there already by default). The Initialize menu should appear; select OK and press Enter and it should initialize to Video mode. Don't use any other initialization options. Go ahead and record something. After you make your recording, Finalize the disc (this function is under the Disc Settings menu). Then see if it will play back on this machine or on another DVD player; a properly initialized and finalized DVD+R disc should work on any standard DVD player. If it doesn't and still says Unrecognizable disc or something like that then your unit's recording function is bad and probably has been from day 1 but unfortunately it will be too late to make a warranty claim with LG.

We have a Philips DVD Recorder a Freeserve Digital box and a TV. Since adding the DVD Recorder we cannot tune in Freeserve at all and DVD's play only in black and white. Help Please. ...

Hi Jack,

And if you remove the DVD Recorder, everything is back to normal?

Initially, I would suspect that your DVD is set to PAL system and not to NTSC (or could be the other way around). Could you pls post back with the exact model number of the Philips DVD Recorder?

Additionally, could you pls detail how the Freeserve Digital box is connected to the Philips DVD Recorder and then to the TV? Pls indicate if you are using Video IN/OUT, S-Video, HDMI, SCART, RF IN/OUT.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

DMR-EZ47V cannot format the discs I have. Is this the discs or the device. I bought it 2nd hand recently

What type of disc are you trying to format? DVD-Rs that have already been finalised will be read-only. You don't need to format DVD-RAMs, just erase what's on them and re-record.

I have a dvd/vcr rrecorder with no coaxial connection. How can I tape or record a TV program?

Hi,first of all I assume that your Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player has the recording features as well..othervise you cant do anything"NEGATIVE" ..If yes than follow the procedure below..
If you want to record your TV program while watching to your DVD/VCR system you need to connect "Video - Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV or CABLE box to "Audio-Video input or "Optic Cable input" of the DVD
There you go..Your TV's video and sound is on the
DVD/VCR Dual Player Receiver..of course your DVD source input should correspond with the jacks you used on the back...push "RECORD" button it should start for recording the coming signal into DVD
when you recording the output RCA jacks of DVD will generate the signal of whatever records that can be monitored with another TV set after properly connected..
Take care and please

Connecting my laptop to DVD recorder and recording onto the recor

You FIRST need a way to get the Signal, INTO the laptop, you need to get a USB to TV/Video Dongle, Now using this and the software that came with it, as well as other software, You Hook up the OUTPUT from the DVD Player, to the Video Input on the USB Dongle, Either, Component (Best) or Composite, (OK) Video, and AV Audio, and set to "Record" on the PC, and "Play" the DVD and then the PC will "Record" the incoming signal from, the DVD player, to the HDD in the PC. Once digitised, and saved it can be manipulated, any way you want.
Now if you want to do the REVERSE IE: Take a signal FROM the PC, to the DVD, then you simply setup the DVD as a Second monitor, use a TV to set it all up, once it is all working on the Laptop and TV, simply swing the Output, away from the TV's Input, to the DVD's Input, and select record, the PC, will then output whatever, to the screen, and whatever is displayed on-screen, will be recorded by the DVD's hard drive.
You First though must setup the PC to have multiple monitors, it is best to get the most up to date drivers and install them in the PC. FIRST. Go to this MS link below it shows you how to set u,setup as CLONE mode, I think will be best, also don't set initial resolution too high to start, set it to say 800x600 32 bit, to start, and work up, until your TV complains and stop. As related once setup, swing the PC's output to the DVD, and record.

Recording Problems

Hi.

Yes.
Most tv sets with freeview built in do not allow you to record it.
Check your tv instruction manual to see if it is at all possible.
