Water on top shelf of refrigerator

The drain in the freezer compartment is probably frozen and the resultant overflow from the defrost cycle is dripping into the refrigerator. A total manual defrost of the freezer will usually do the trick. Remove all the frozen product and place in coolers and cover them with a blanket or two. Unplug the unit and prop a fan on a stool to where it'll blow into the freezer for a couple hours. Then assist the defrosting by use of a hair dryer on the high setting all across the bottom of the freezer compartment. Monitor the temperature on the plastic with your other hand so overheating of the plastic does not happen.

Once you use the hair dryer for 15 - 20 minutes, find the plastic tube that comes out the rear of the box or possibly where it drips UNDER the refrigerator into he drain pan. Slip it out and blow backwards up through it to ensure there is no blockage of sludge or ice. If it is still blocked, go back to the hair dryer again. A hint: while you are near the drain pan, inspect the condition of the condensor coil to see if a good cleaning is required. They are usually impacted with dust, lint and other stuff inhibiting their ability to reject heat.

About once a month the freezer has to be manually defrosted for it to work effectively.

The problem is most likely the=> 12868513 Electronic Control Board 3_11_2013_2_22_16_pm.jpg
and it could be the 12729128 Heating Element or the defrost thermostat=> W10165425 Defrost Thermostat

The coils behind the freezer compartment freeze up about once a month. After I take it apart and defrost with a hair dryer it runs fine... for about a month. Is this the main control board?

it can be,but before you replace that $100.00+ board, check the defrost heating element for continuity and also the defrost thermostat(both on the evaporator coil) as these go bad too and are much cheaper than the board

This is the second time the freezer accumulates water and freezers at the bottom of the freezer section of the Admiral HMG67158, 26.6 cu ft freez/refrig. The coils behind the panel were completely frozen...

unplug unit, remove back panel inside freezer and manually defrost with hair dryer, sounds like you have a defrost problem, check defrost thermostat, defrost heater or defrost timer, defrosting with hair dryer will fix until it freezes up again

As of six months ago, my GE fridge starting leaking from where the air blows into the refrigerator part of the machine. I was getting a 16 oz cup of water out of it every 36 hours or so. Now the freezer...

If this is a top freezer model, remove the bottom and back freezer panels. You will find the defrost drain line frozen over.
It must be defrosted manually. A hair dryer will help melt the ice.

I have a code Er dH

After taking the back out of the inside of the freezer compartment I noticed the whole coil was frozen solid. Using a hair dryer I thawed out the ice and then went to get parts. I asked for a defrost heater and the technician at the parts store felt it was more than likely a defrost heater sensor as they had been replacing quite a few for this brand LG fridge/freezer combination. I replaced the defrost heater sensor and put the unit back together. It has been 3 days now and all is working fine. Thank you FixYa for your assistance, as I am sure your guidance has saved me about $400.00. Will use your assistance in the future.

Freezer not defrosting

You got the right idea. your fridge have a deforst problem, and it can be cause by a number of items. 1. the timer, 2 the defrost temperature control. 3 the defrost element itself.
Before you use the hair dryer when there is ice forming in the back panel, try to turn the timer and see wheather you can set it to defrost cycle manually if you can then the timer need to be change. the 2 and 3 item is a bit more work for normal people to deal with, you better call in a serviceman and watch him how he handle it so you can try it yourself next time. God Bless

Freezer does not freeze fast enough, icecream gets very soft. The refrigerator is set on temperature level 9 and is not cold.

Setting the control to 9 may make the freezer ice up too much to work right. You can start with a manual defrost. That takes a long time, because the ice is below the freezer liner, stuck in the coils. You'll have to move your food elsewhere, like a cooler. I always take the freezer apart to get at the coils, use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Then you can check the defrost coil, it's like a toaster element. After all that, check the defrost timer too. It's usually down by the compressor area, about the size of a cell phone. It has a small dial on it that only turns one way. Mark it when the fridge is on with whiteout to see if it moves. It moves real slowly, so you will have to wait a half hour or so.
One way to speed up a defrost is to turn the dial on the defrost timer until it clicks. Then the compressor will turn off and the defrost coil will turn on. The freezer fan should be spinning. Feel the output from the freezer fan- anything? If no flow, you're iced up. Keep checking for flow, eventually it should get cold. When you get good airflow, and maybe it's not so cold anymore, you might be defrosted without having to take the whole thing apart. You may have to turn the dial more than once, if the compressor comes back on before you're defrosted. You can help the defrost with your hair dryer thru the vents in the front of the freezer, but not too hot, you don't want to melt any plastic.
