Remove user name on Tungsten E

I have a Palm Tungsten E that I want to give to a friend because I am upgrading to a TX. I have done a hard reset and erased all my info on the unit. However when we try to install all his info it still comes up with my name. How do I take my name off of the unit so that it is back to factory new so he can set it up with his name. The hard boot removed everything but my user name.

Go into the software on the desktop and there is a tools tab. If you open that you can add or deleat names there.

Upgraded from tungsten e to tungsten t5 did first hotsync but subsequently get error message line:4038 error launching application

Hello.

From Palm Support:

When you upgraded from the E to the T5, did you precisely follow the upgrade directions? These steps include the following actions:

Did you install the new Palm software that came with the T5? Did you rename the Backup folder on your computer before you synced the T5?

If you did not rename the Backup folder you have installed system and preferences files from the E that are not compatible with the T5 and NVFS.

Advise that you hard reset to return the E to factory condition and precisely follow the upgrade procedures.
Hope this helps.

My palm e2 screen brings a frozen screen even after reset and no button whatsoever works, it can reset but freezes on the screen again, that is 0 alerts. even the power button does not work, only reset,...

You can try doing a hard reset. A hard reset will delete everything on your device. All your data will be deleted, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything. Here is the link for directions for the Hard Reset:

My palm just displays ''Palm Powered'' Tried soft reset

Have you tried a hard reset? Just remember a hard reset will delete everything on your device. All your data will be deleted, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything. Here is a link with the directions:

If that doesn't work then try the free palm chat service they offer. Here is a link to that:

I have a Palm Tungsten\E2 that I want to remove all the

If you want to change the user (this will enable you to sync without old data) then yes, a hard reset. To do this hold down the power button and press the reset button. fter 2 seconds release the power button and delete all data when prompted. Now when you hotsync you will be prompted for a new user.

Palm T/X keeps on resetting. I did the hard reset but still the same problem exist. Help please.

You will have to rename the backup folder to backup.old in C:program files/palm/ user name folder, then perform a Hard reset on the device and perform  a HotSync to resolve the issue.

How do I make a hard reset on my Palm Zire 31 PDA?

I did not write the posting attributed to me. I have a Palm Tungsten E. My Dad had been using it and I needed to know how to do a hard reset so it would accept my info. I found that on the Palm site after looking on your site. I performed the hard reset and hot synced the Palm with my info.

Thank you, Sue Nutt

Palm Tungsten t5 WiFi

I suspect that you're in fact holding a Palm TX and not a T5 as the T5 does not have WiFi. If you're using the Palm SD WiFi adaptor, do a hard reset without the card.

(hold down the ON/OFF button whilst using the reset pin to press the reset button. You'll be asked if you are sure you wish to reset. You'll then be prompted to choose the language caliberate the screen etc..)

After that. Go and download all the updates and drivers from Palm Web site.
