My Baby Lock Soprano is less than a year old. After using lettering, my regular stiches don't work. The regular straight stich is to the left and zigzag stiches are straight stiches in the middle.

Do I need to take it in for service or is there something I can do?

SOURCE: How do I change the stiches?

You can do all of these stitches by using different combinations of your stitch selector, stitch width and stitch feed knobs, for instance, on the panel I can see on your machine:

http://www.jo-ann.com/joann/product/images/52659.jsp?CATID=cat3122&PRODID=prd11333

Stitches 1, 2 & 3 are straight stitches, centered, left and right. Really basic stuff, not different stitches at all. 4,5,6,7 & 8 are zig-zag stitches of different widths. 9 is the widest zig-zag (no. 8) on a finer stitch length, etc...

I think you should try and get an instruction manual for your machine. After a lengthy search of my usual manual sources, I've determined that that this may not be so easy. I think you should contact White on their 800 number and let them try and help you... 1-800-331-3164.

If you found this helpful, please vote generously as I receive nothing other than acknowledgement for my time.

Your machine has a timing problem and should be seen by a technician to repair it.It is possible that there is a loose part also.

SOURCE: Brother ls2125 won't zigzag stitch

that sounds like a timing issue if it will pick up every now and then i would recommend taking it to a brother dealer for repair as timing is not easy to set

SOURCE: Setting Machine on Different Stich Patterns

Turn the dial for stitch length so that the black line that separates the stitch length numbers from the buttonhole functions is in the 12 o'clock position. This engages the gears that operate your red stitches.

I have a Baby Lock Sophia sewing machine. The automatic buttonhole foot is not working right in that it goes great for a bit and then won't move and all the thread zigzags into a lump.

As a test, try sewing a similar zigzag stich without the button hole foot using the appropriate foot required and same or similar fabrics. Use a different colored top thread to be sure whether its top thread or bobbin thread that is nesting

Likely you'll find it's a tension issue.

My old 830 will not do zigzag stitch are any other fancy stitch. Will only straight stich

Most likely, it has seized due to old oil that has dried. These old machines do love regular oiling and cleaning. Usually the first to be affected are the stitch selectors, feed dog drop, needlebar or handwheel.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Brother sewing machine model AS1430S not picking zig zag stich....on zig zag stich option it is only giving straight stich.....plz help

Try a brand new needle. If that doesn't work, then the machine may be slightly out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My machine is baby lock.it suddenly got a problem.it is: it sews a few stiches and stops and it goes on like this

here are some suggestions, if the suggstions don't help then it
would be a good idea to have the machine check to see if something
in wrong with the computer part of the machine
1. change the needle--make sure it's the right needle for the fabric
2. rethread the machine top & bobbin,,make sure to use every
thread guide
3. make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
4. clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint

When iam stiching the bobbin thread is not interlocking with the pool thread ,the straight stich is not stiching properly

Do you have thread in your bobbin?
Is your needle fully inserted in the needle bar?
Is it the right needle for the machine?
Is your needle damaged, bent or dull?

After using the embroidery hoop you can not sew in regular mode, feed dogs does not come up and moved the cloth.

My Janome has a metal slide switch for lowering the feed dogs on the base of the machine in front.

Have you raised the feed downs again? Otherwise, turn off so that the current stich selected resets, and then turn on and select straight stich. Try again.

Yamata FY7568 only stiches ----------

Have you changed your needle? If you have a dull or bent needle it can cause the machine to not lock the stitches together and the result is a straight stitch on every pattern. Also, check your stitch width selector and make sure that it did not get accidently moved.

Proper Settings

A good standard tension setting is usually around 4.5.
If you find it to be looping on the bottom, raise your top tension. If it's pulling bobbing thread to the top, lower your top tension.
For straight stitch, your stitch width should be set to zero, although on some machines (and I believe your Baby Lock to be one of them,) the stitch width setting will change your needle position.
Stitch length is simply a matter of preference.
