Water leaks into freezer bottom & floor

We have a kenmore elite 3 door. Water leaks into the bottom of the freezer forming a sheet of ice then leaking onto the floor. Ice maker works but slow.

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck! if it has an ice maker check the water feed hose for leaks.

also I have a freezer that ices up twice a year. poor design. have to defrost every now and then.

Check for cracks in the water supply tube from the house plumbing valve to the ice maker. Could also be the valve itself.

Turn off valve for a day to diagnose which.

My kenmore elite refrig keeps leaking water from what appears to be condensation. It gets so bad that the ice maker door freezes shut and water actually drips on the floor. The freezer is set to 0 while...
The high level of condensation is due to constant opening of the fridge when the frost develops. It is required to defrost off the condensation and if this has an auto mode timer for defrost , then it is possible that it is not working.
The water must drain out to the drain tank but since it is formed out of the freezer the water flows out of the collection tray.

Water collecting under the freezer drawer, then freezing
We just had a similar problem with our Maytag side-by-side in the bottom of the freezer. Just as you described...sort of a glacier on the floor of the freezer that slowly melts toward the door. After several attempts to remove the ice, only to have it form again, my husband spoke with a helpful sales person in an appliance center. He said there's a drainage plug/line on the back that's supposed to funnel condensation to the evaporation tray underneath. It gets clogged and frozen. Sure enough...my husband pulled out the freezer, opened the visible line and it was all frozen and full of gunk. He had to use a hair dryer to thaw it out, then flushed it. It was amazing how much stuff came out of there. We've had no more problem since.

Freezer malfunction
Drain hole is clogged behind the panel that covers the coils. I found a peice of solder blocking mine. Water was freezing on the bottom of the freezer and leaking out to the floor.

I replaced my "entire" ice cube maker (tube,hoses,water pump, ice maker) and it still pooled water at the bottom. I removed the back panel in the freezer and noticed the ciols go through a defrost cycle and water forms in tray under coils. I removed the lower panel on rear of fridge -and found a drain hose near the water solenoid/pump. I blew compressed air into the hose and hopefully unblocked it so it can drain into the pan not the freezer.
