What you need: an IDE harddrive (maxtor or seagate works best. ive got a maxtor diamondback or whatever its called), the online adaptor and hdloader. hdloader can only be found on the internet so google it. if youre interested in my setup then you need the original hdloader then you can go to ps2hd.com and find all the other programs if youre interested in doing cogswap (play burned games without a chip) then also search that site for the ps2 exploit disc and cogswap. each harddrive is different and can require differnt jumper settings. look on your harddrive to figue out what is cs or check te company's website where you put your harddrive on the ide cable matters. when i first installed a secondary harddrive in my computer i had to shift my original harddrive down one position to make room for the secondary and allow it to take the secondary position on the ide cable. if you switch them then your computer will tell you "cannot find primary harddrive" and will not boot. one thing that i didnt mention is that you should also ground yourself after grounding the computer. your body can carry static electricity and if it gets discharged inside of your computer you can destroy components like RAM, the motherboard or even harddrives. to ground yourself touch a part of the metal casing of your computer. this will continue to be updated as i find more things that i forgot to say

What is modding....how to install ext hard drive on the ps2 slim scph 90004

Modding is the process of putting a mod chip in the ps2 to read burned games and to hack games. I wouldn't recomend doing it because it is highly illegal.

How i can unlock ps2 to play pirate games

sorry buddy you cant unlock a ps2 to play pirated games. but depending on what kind of ps2 you have you can modify it to play your copied games if it is a fat ps2 you will need to buy a modchip for it or if you have a slim ps2 like mine all you have to do is order some swap magic discs at modchip.ca or .com then modify your slime line with a fliptop cover or the cheap free way is to use the tape and tissue mod that i use( just google tape and tissue mod) i play all my copied games and they work just fine. you can even play the classics such as sega genesis or supernes. afterdawn.com is an awsome website for all your ps2 modding needs it has all the guides from burning games to modding your ps2 ^^ hoped tht helps

General Issue

you have two options, buy an already unlocked ps2 or buy a modchip set to unlock yours. and yes, you void warranty if you modchip it.

Modifying ps2?

Depends on what you want. Note that modifying your PS2 in any way voids your warranty. Original PS2's I'm not so sure about. It involves opening the console, though, and I'm sure you can find a video on youtube if you look for it. But since you can't do any modification that won't involve a modchip, you'd better be prepared to solder a chip on there.

Slim PS2's you have a better variety of options. Tissue/Tape mod which blocks two censors and the disc brake, allowing you to use the Swap Trick or get good use out of a Swap Disc.

If you get a swaptool, or make one, you can do this on both the original PS2 and the slimline PS2.

Look up Free_MCBoot, and have an empty memory card ready. Either use the swap trick or use Swap Magic to install the memory card exploit. It'll contain ESR, which allows you to play burned games.

But there will be no support for your piracy, either. Not from the makers of Free_MCBoot, or the modchip makers, or even myself.

How to modify ps2

The chip is nt pirated. The thing is it is a small chip that has to be installed with the main chip on motherboard where code has been installed. After installing chip, main chip can't recognize original code, thus copied PS2 media works on MOD Chip. The chip comes with many little wires. You can't install that. Go to a expert. It will take an hour to install. Feel free to ask any problem related PS2.

Thank you,[email protected]

PS2 won't read Original/Backup CD/DVD

The Purpose behind the guide to you is emulate your exploit disk, instead of using the disk you use, you're storing the exploit files themselves to your memory card ie. you're ps2 menu and HDloader and any other .elf file. Then you're using the PS1 (retail) game to cause a buffer overflow exploit to load the elf files stored on your memory card, once this is done you get that modified PS2 menu. As I said in the first clairication request the swapping stuff doesn't pertain to you becuase you have a mod chip installed. The main purpose for you to use what i posted eariler was to give you your modified .elf PS2 menu back (cuz all of your tools were stored before on your exploit CD wich is a non retail burned copy) this gives you a way to boot up with things that are native to the PS2 (memory card and retail PS1 game) from the .elf PS2 menu you should be able to see better what is going on becuase you can access each disk type contents from that menu and should be able to launch the game (if your laser lense is functioning enough to read retail PS1 games) from the menu itself. Or if you've been using HDloader plop that .elf onto the memory card (explained on my site) and just navigate to that via the .elf PS2 menu and you'll at least be able to load games stored on your hard drive. This is just something you can use till you get your new PS2 chipped out.

Of coarse this is all speculation. If your PS2 can't even read retail PS1 games none of this will even work.

Sry I don't know anyone that does the chipped stations nemore. I'm sure someone on this site still does though.
