According your problem it seems to be your try to install faulty Network card. So better is check with new good card.another possibility is some time pci slots fail to recognise a hardware, so try it with another pci slots of mother board.According to you onboard network card is dead, means motherboard fails to work when connect to a network, after successfull installation of network card also the possibility of motheboard not allow you to work with new network card ,same situation may arise,i am also managed same problems in several customer place while working as an computer hardware engineer. So try with new network card it may solve your problem
you need your windows xp disc preferably slip streamed with SP 2 or SP 3 and then you should be able to install it onto your sata hard drive.
If you are having issues then you may need to extract the sata drivers onto a memory stick or floppy disk and press F6 before windows xp loads and specify to use the sata drivers which you can download from the motherboards manufacturers website generally as a zip file which you will first need to extract into a folder.
If that does not work using the memory stick you can use nlite to slipstream the drivers with your windows xp disc : Nlite download
You should install the Chips drivers or intall all the driver in series listed in your CD Utilities. Its good if you download the latest drivers of your system at www.asus.com or here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
The most common solution was this: open device manager click
"system devices" disable "microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition
audio" uninstall "UAA bus driver" make rescan devices (Note: Not all
had this step. You may want to skip it.) D.W. install realtek driver
the realtek driver includes the UAA driver too.Hope this
helps.
