No power after shut off

While my tv was off, I unplugged it due to an impending electrical storm. A few hours later when I plugged it back in, it won't turn on.I hear a slight hum behind the set so I know it's getting power. I have tried plugging it into a different outlet. Unplugging it and holding down the on/off switch for 30 seconds ... then plugging it in and again holding down the power switch for 30 seconds ... no power.I've looked for a reset switch but can't seem to find it and also a fuse box but can't locate that either.

Amazingly, I simply let the set plugged in overnight and this morning when I pushed the power button just to aggravate myself ... darned thing came on like nothing ever was wrong.

Apparently the longer you leave the set unplugged, the longer it takes to reset itself.

Power light flashes orange after a lighting storm

Try unplugging it for an hour then plug it back in and press power. If its still flashing a blink-code then the tv is in protection mode and needs to be serviced. If the tv powers on normally after unplug/replug then purchase a digital surge-protector to prevent electrical spiking from hitting your tv again.

Turn power on, approx. 30 sec later it the power

It varies as to what is actually making the TV shut down. Shorting the connectors on the A.C. plug have nothing to do with it turning back on. Its just the fact you are unpugging it for a few moments.

Storm last night, now Wii won't power up

Unplug everything! There is a "breaker" in the power supply and it may need to be reset. Just unplug all cables from the TV and outlets. Let it sit for a couple hours then plug everything back in and it should work fine. If not then the power supply has shorted out due to a strong power surge. You can claim it under your home owners insurance or call Nintendo and try to get it replaced. Thanks! Good luck and happy gaming!!
