Open door, press in rapid sequence the following keys: hi temp scrub, energy saver dry, hi temp scrub, energy saver dry. Close the door until it latches, then open it and depress the cancel key. The lght should clear. It's a beautiful thing.

SOURCE: kitchen aid dishwasher doesn't clean dishes in the top rack

Sounds like you have 1 of 2 problems. Either your pump is clogged or you need a bigger drain loop.

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid dishwasher is not cleaning like it use to

Check the following to address this issue further.

1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner. There are a few out there.

SOURCE: what does add rinse aid and where do you put it

You don't need rinse aids anymore. It rots the wiring...use FINISH tablets, the rinse aid is built into the tablet.

Clean light blinking

If the clean light blinks four times and then pauses and then blinks four times again and repeats, the problem is your pump motor. If there is water under the DW the pump clamp has probably failed and sprayed water onto and inside the motor. Call a certified Kitchen Aid repair service.

I have a kitchen-aid dishwasher model # KUDio1ibl6 and it will not come on and the clean light flashes 7 times then pauses and blinks 7 time again. Do you have any Idea what this code stands for I do not...

Hello Asa,

The light blinking seven times is a error code specifically it's error #7 .The E-7 error indicates the part called the flow meter is bad. To clear that error code and get the dishwasher to start push within 3 seconds
HIGH TEMP WASH -HEATED DRY-HIGH TEMP WASH- HEATED DRY

then push CANCEL sereval times to dishwasher shuts off..it should start and run then

If the blinks 7 times again the flowmeter will need to be replaced

ON some models the "HIGH TEMP WASH" button is labled power scrub instead of high temp wash
so in that case push POWER SCRUB-HEATED DRY-POWER SCRUB-HEATED DRY then cancel as described above

In case the E-7 error returns and the flowmeter needs to be replaced the part number for it is W10195536

Hi

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring).
It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Thanks Daniel

Dishwasher not responsive, just a blinking CLEAN light.

HI, this is a control fault that is located in the logic sector of the circuit board. You will need to replace the control in order to restore proper function.

''Clean'' light is blinking, ''Cancel'' does not reset the cycle.
