Ther are two adjustments to check, the tightness of the walking belt(the screws at the back of the treadmill) and the tightness of the motor drive belt under the motor cover.

B) Walking Belt/Motor Belt too Tight:

If you have adjusted the walking belt or motor belt recently, check for this problem. When the belts start slipping, some people just crank

down the belts and on treadmills, tighter is not necessarily better. The tighter the belts, the more the drive system has to work to keep

everything moving. You should be able to lift the walking belt (with the treadmill unplugged) in the center of the treadmill about 3" without

straining. Tighter belts should be loosen but make sure you don't create a dangerous slipping situation by loosening.

The motor belt (with the treadmill unplugged) should be able to be turned by hand to almost a 90 degree angle from its normal operating

position. Loosen the belt if too tight. Make sure to test for slipping

and if it does with the proper tension, replace the motor belt.

While using my Nordictrack a2550 this morning, the walking belt began to slip very badly. I checked the alignment and adjusted the tension of the belt as per the user's manual but the belt stills slip...

if it really is the walking belt that is slipping keep tightening the adjustment screws till the belt will not slip when you try to stop it ( set speed to about 3 and then with your foot try to stop belt from spinning - you should be able to make the motor and whole machine come to a stop ) make sure it is really walk belt spinning and it isnt the motor belt slipping. (if it is motor belt slipping when you try to do the stop the belt trick i just described you will see the walk belt and front roller stop but still hear the motor turning) once you get walk belt tight enough so it doesnt slip then you can worry about keeping the belt centered.

let me know if you need more help on this and let me know how the stop the belt test went

good luck!

The belt is tight why does it still slip

Hello, If the walk belt is tight, you will want to remove the motor hood and watch that the drive belt and motor are staying at the correct speed when the walk belt slips. The most likley cause is the front drive pully on the front roller. This sometimes looses adheshion with the front roller and slips, usually when you are running. After it gets reallt bad it will slip when walked on.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Does the belt stop while walking or running? Does it staop after it has run for a while? Does the motor seem to stop too? or can you hear it running like normal?

Let me know, It is most likley the pully on the front roller.

Belt is slipping and squeaking when walked upon what type of lubricant should be used

Sounds like the motor belt is slipping. Make sure the belt from the motor to front roller pulley is tight.Once you have that adjusted lube and adjust the walk belt. The squeaking is usually from the motor belt. Many treadmills(Proform, Nordictrack for example) use Silicone lube (lube n walk, or silicone With teflon from Lowes works good) Call the manufacturer to make sure it uses a silicone lube.

Reebok 8050es treadmill walking belt has started slipping/skipping. It has been oiled and it is 2 years old.

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) above the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened. If you still have slipping then the drive belt under the motor shroud can also cause this problem unplug unit remove shroud then plug unit in start it up observe the front roller to see if it stops if it does locate the tension adjusting bolt by the motor loosen motor mount and proceed adjusting until slipping has been eliminated

Belt is slipping

This is caused by one of three problems. First and most likely, the walking belt is loose. To tighten the belt, start by locating the two bolts that adjust the rear roller (one on each side of the unit in the back). Run the unit at about 3 mph. Tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time. Make sure that what you do to one side, you MUST do to the other side or the belt will get off center. After you tighten it 1/4 turn, check the belt to see if it is still slipping. If it is then tighten the belt 1/4 turn again. Continue until the belt does not slip, but do not tighten the bolts more than 2 full turns. If it takes more than 2 turns then something else is the problem. The second problem that it could be is the drive belt might be loose. To tighten the drive belt, start by removing the front cover. loosen the bolts around the motor then tighten the drive belt by tightening the motor adjuster bolt. Once the drive belt is tight, tighten the motor back down. The third problem that it could be is the walking belt could be worn and need to be replaced. Let me know if you have any questions.

I tighten the screws behind the belt but it still slips as i walk

Sounds like the motor drive belt is slipping, remove the motor cover,be careful some models have hidden screws in recessed areas underneath if you remove the correct ones the hood comes off easily. There is a bracket that has a bolt to adjust the motor belt tension. Also if you tightened the walk belt up it may be too tight which could cause it to wear or tear easier, the rule of thumb is tighten the walk belt just tight enough so it doesn't slip.
