It is very likely that you haven't got the same CTCSS or DCS codes matched. Try turning them off on both radios.

SOURCE: T5900 Walkie Talkie Issue

Hello Bo Duke,

If one radio won't walk to the other my guess if that you have the Privacy Code function set up incorrectly.

The privacy code function mutes the radio unless it receives a signal from another radio transmitting the same privacy code. If Privacy Codes are turned on for Radio A but not turned on for Radio B then you will be able to transmit from Radio A to Radio B but not from Radio B to Radio A. If Privacy Codes are turned on for both radios but each unit is set to a different code then neither radio will be able to talk to the other.

Make sure that the radios are both set to the same privacy code or that the privacy code function is turned off on both radios. You can find more information on how this function is set in the radio's Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps!

Had fixed the same problem yesterday. My cobra worked when it wanted to, when it didn't it looked like you explained. I found out that on my cobra the blue wire on the mike connector was broken. When it disconnects, no sound. after soldering, everything works fine.

SOURCE: Can't hear each other when talking?

Here is a copy of the user manual: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/SX900%2002-22-08.pdf Double check the programming of your frequency and interference eliminator code.

Then you might check your Qt filter and your call tones. Set both to the zero (off) position and see if you have the same issue.

Also, never transmit with them in the charging cradle. I know, lots do but you risk ruining the radio beyond repair.

Can a Motorola talk about 250 talk to a cobra CXT 195. They can hear me from the Motorola I just cant hear them

Your code (PL code, interference eliminator, quiet call) is not programmed the same on both radios. The Cobra appears to be set to open squelch (no code). Set your Motorola code setting to zero (off). This should solve the problem.

Have (2) Cobra 22 channel Micro talk radios that both just quit together. Only get static when tring to talk on them. Have (4) AAA rechargable in each one that show they are charged up. Both quit at the...

  • It is odd to see them both quit just like that. Were you messing with the buttons on one of them when it just quit? Did you happen to change one of the privacy channels on a main channel? The privacy channels isolate a main channel so you can talk on a channel without everyone with a radio hearing you. Make sure the channels on both radios are on only the channels and that no CTCSS or DCS code accidentally got added onto a channel. You should be able to tell by just looking at the screen and you will see the channel you are on and will also indicate a CTCSS or DCS code. Should you see either of them then remove them and retry the radio on a plain channel only.

  • Should this fail the you have got some major internal malfunction that happened to happen at the same time and it is time to invest in a new set of radios.

DOES IT HAVE A CALL BUTTON?

It has a PTT (push-to-talk) button. But if you are talking about a button to make a call tone (ringing sound) come out the other radios, the answer is no.

How to talk from one talkie to another

the radios may be on the same channel but are they also set to the same privacy code. if the speakers are working on the radios and if the recieve portion of the radio is good then this would be the cause of your problem. Most FRS radios will have the channel number as the big number on the display and the privacy code as a smaller number on the right hand side of the display. make sure that the privacy code nubers are the same.
