The ear piece of My HTC touch Diamond 2 bought just 3 weeks ago is not working. So I cannot hear the caller nor the ring tone while making a call. The phone can only be used in ''speaker phone mode''

In most cases, the ring tone callers hear (incoming ring tone) is controlled by your cellular service provider.
Try this first: (On the Internet) Sign-in to your cellular account. On your account page, look for a link that directs you to your incoming ring tones (or similar). There, you can change your incoming ring tone.
If you're unable to do that, contact your cellular provider's Customer Support. They can assist you in changing your incoming ring tone.
The main reason for this problem is because of the ear piece. The ear piece is something you keep close to your ears while making calls. The speaker is an alternate way to listen music or to listen the caller loud or for ring tone.
Check your ear piece. Either it would have damaged due to water or would have lost the connection to the circuitry.
go to tools and setting --> sound settings --> keypad volume...see if you see "KEYPAD VOL-EARJACK"...that means that your phone is stuck in EARJACK mode....get a wired ear piece, plug it in, make a call, and then unplug after you end the call....that should resolve your problem...
Hi, You have told that you can hear well only if you use your headphone or loudspeaker. From this it is obvious that there is no problem with your network but with the earpiece speaker present in your device. So replacing it under warranty is a way to solve this. moreover its only 2 months and so your device still covered under warranty.

Your ear speaker is bad. You may need to replace it.. This one made by HTC. You can check on Ebay for replacement part. Other issue could be is the hardware part of the ear speaker may be broken or defected will cause loosing contact with the main circuit or you can say it is short. Only solution is open the phone and check for that area to see for any defective.
