My Garmin cannot find the lake house. Directions get me to correct road, but stop almost a mile short of destination and turn me in the wrong direction for finish point...right instead of left
Re: My Garmin cannot find the lake house. Directions
You may need to update your maps. If they are up to date (2010) then its just bad data from Navteq. You can add the waypoint in your nuvi and custom name it which would provide better results.

Hi Carolyn:
Sounds like quite the adventure.
If I understand correctly, the car ran fine when you took it home, and you haven't used it since.
When you tried to start it, did it spin over and not fire, or did it not spin over at all?
I'd be suspicious that you may have had some contamination in the fuel tank and the rough bumps may have gotten some of it into the fuel system.
I'd check the fuel filter and consider putting an additive into the gas tank to make sure there's no moisture problem.
Time to go back to the lake!
Are you sure you have set the mark correctly. 30 ft would be acceptable due to regulations , but 2 miles is quit a lot of variance. Check to be sure your map is up to date as some maps were never updated with road changes if you are going off a pre-set map load
It sounds like your Nuvi is set on "off road". Please look for the setting that allows you to select "faster time", "shorter distance" or "off road". Your unit is probably set to "off road" where you are given directions like a compass and not by roads.
Hard to solve over the net like this, but it sounds like your unit thinks you are somewhere other than your current location. This can happen if you turned the unit off at your destination and you aren't allowing it to update the location prior to typing in the street name.
So turn the unit on and click on the View Map icon to see where IT thinks it is. If it's somewhere else, check the satellite bars and make sure they are GREEN. (You may have to go outside to get reception.)
If your device is showing you at the correct location, I'm at a loss on what to advise.
Is Long Lake Road fairly new? If so, it may just not be on the maps yet.
Another "work-around" (government jargon) is to use a USB cable to connect to your computer, and then use the Maps from Google to find your address. Once you do, you can transfer the address to your Garmin by selecting the "Send" link on the box the points to the location on the map.
Maybe you need an update of your GPS software Get the Webupdater. You will see that there are some changes already. If this doesn't work, get some other maps.
The day after I bougth my Nüvi 300, there were updatess available.
when garmin should have said 286 miles, it was saying 987 miles....why?
