Mitsubishi ws 65819

TV had started having issues with red\green(?) convergence.
picture would be fine, then colors would seem to seperate, making the picture appears as if there was a ghosting problem.
when trying to adjust the convergence, would see the same seperation of collors.
it was very obvious to see when switching inputs where the input label names were on the blue background.
It would stay llike this for awhile, then correct itself. Switching inputs or turning the tv off/on seemed to help resolve most of the times.

Before I could get a service person to check it out, now it won't power on. The power will be on for a couple of seconds (green light will show on set's controls) then power off.
Pressing Menu+Input buttons on the set show the following green light blinking pattern: blink twice, short pause, blink twice, long pause, repeat....

any thoughts on the issue?

thanks in advance,
gary

Replace your convergence IC's. This model has (2) Stk392-570 IC's screwed and pasted to a vertically mounted plate of aluminum located straight back while viewing it from the back side. The board needs to be removed from the chassis, 10 screws around the board, and then the IC's need to be unsoldered from that board and replaced with the new ones. This will fix your problem.

It appears to be convergence issues. Red, green, and blue are very seperate. Yoke adjustments will not bring the RGB in. Is this possibly a convergence chip issue?

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.
Your TV may have one or more of the following symptoms....
  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix here

Red color seems to jump from the rest of the colors about 2'' Mitsubishi 65'' widescreen model ws-65819

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Mitsubishi WS-65819 got Fried by a mouse

Just replacing the board if its the main board is half of the repair. The memory IC which is usually located on the main board holds all the data for convergence, picture geometry, channel memory, color settings etc..So getting it to run is only half of the battle. Got to http://www.partstore.com and look for the main board. I couldn't however look it up because it says your model number is invalid.
