If you turn your sound up on the computer, do you hear a dial tone? Does it then begin dialing? If not you may have a bad modem. Try dialing the ISP's number with your phone, it should dial in and you should hear various beeps and so on, if not the ISP is down.

You can log in to your NetZero email account in three ways:

1. When you connect to the Internet via your NetZero service, you are automatically logged-in to your email.
2. If you have DSL, or are using a different ISP to connect to the Internet, you can log in to NetZero email directly by going to http://webmail.netzero.net and entering your Member ID and Password.
3. If you have DSL or are using a different ISP to connect to the Internet, you can log in to NetZero email indirectly by going to http://my.netzero.net and entering your Member ID and Password.

Open Internet explorer
Click on Tools - Internet Options - Delete Files - Delete Cookies- Click Apply
Click on Security Tab and you will find Restricted Sites - Highlight it and below Click on Default Level. click Apply
Click on Connections Tab and under dialup and virtual networking - check if there are dialers - If so, Select one by one and Delete - Click Apply
Click on Advance tab - Click on Reset Settings button

Click Apply - Click ok - Close the Internet Explorer Browser.

Reopen and try to access your account.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click Add/Remove Programs
Select Internet Explorer 8
Click to "uninstall"
Restart your computer.

You'll go "back" to Internet Explorer 6 or 7.
Try NetZero again.

1st step is to call netzero and as per the setup get it configured.

2nd on your comp go to control panel-network connections- delete all the connections listed their- insert the disc provided with router- run the setup and install it- then connect the usb of router and see if it works..

Dial up modems have 2 phone line connections side by side in the back of a desktop, one is for the wall, other is for your telephone. Laptops have just one phone line connector. why fight it , let it be on com 1 then,
go into the bios and disable the serial ports .
that may be the easiest fix as long as you don't need the serial port for anything.
but if you have a serial mouse oh boy.
