Question about Nortel 1140E

Starting DHCP screen won't clear

My screen reads starting DHCP and won't clear. When I hit the services button twice it is asking me for a admin. password. I don't know what that is, and neither does my network guy.

Is there a default password?

How can I clear if I don't have password?

Thanks for the help

I get to the Enter Admin Password screen and there are already **** (four asteriks) in place. I can't seem to delete/overide them and I presently can't arrow down for the option OK or Cancel. I would like to try the password suggested by bienben4 as I am working on an 1120E IP phone.

Hi there,
Try using 26567*738 as the default password for the 1120E and 1140E IP phones.

You sound as frustrated as i was. Use password for 2007 color phone " color*set" when promted for admin password. Further trick is to "down arrow" for ok. If you get dhcp server startup hit services again and again until you get to admin password again. Enter password and touch down until you see menu for network config which is number 3. Your IT guy should be ready to provide IP and whether DHCP is full or partial and provide IP for BCM. You have about 3 minutes before timeout.

My edimax wireless access point is saying i have the wrong username and password and wont let me login

For most Edimax routers, the default IP address is, default username is admin and password is 1234.
By default the router is a DHCP server which will assign IP address starting from to to DHCP clients automatically.
Make sure your computer has TCP/IP Protocol setup as "Obtain IP address automatically".
Open the Internet Explorer.
Type in hit Enter.
The Login window will appear.
Type in the default username admin, password 1234.
Click on Login.
Then you can configure the router.

Display screen reads dhcp bad conflict

There is a dhcp error. Reboot the phone.
When It says, DHCP * to program, press the STAR button.

when the IP address is displayed, change it by press Where the dots are would be the star button. then press the #(pound) button until you see save new values, press star for yes.

Hopefully that will force it to grab another IP from teh DHCP server.

If not contact your admin.

I have forgotten my old password to log on

Start the computer and get to the logon screen.

Hold down Ctrl and Alt and then hit the Del key twice, it should take you to an advanced log on screen. Clear the name and type in administrator in the user name pane, leave the the password pane blank and hit enter.

It should now take you through to admin account. Go to the control panel>User Accounts and from there you can change or completely remove the password.

Good luck and kind regards.

Locked out from pc? forgot password? how to change password?

If you are using Windows XP Professional there is an Admin Account Hidden. Thats if it isnt the current one.
Start your computer and repeatedly hit F8 for boot changes, start in "Safemode" or "Directory Services and Repairs"
If the Welcome screen shows Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to get classic logon screen then Type Admin and if there is a Password enter it.

If you do log in, you should have the ability to change the account Password or create new one.

If you are Using XP Home Edition then theres not much luck unless you can think of the PW.
Your Best bet is to Backup and Reinstall Operating System
