Question about Sanyo Xacti S5 Digital Camera

"Format the card" appears in the screen and I can do nothing! "Format" or "Full Format", but nothing helps

I have same problem. I did full format first time, then lots of video was taken, then FORMAT / FULL FORMAT screen appeared and I can not access my movies any more. Card is 32GB SDHC class 6, Xacti is HD1010. Anyone has an idea?

Have you actually tried to format the card in the camera and you still get these messages?

Choose YES for the Format option. Allow it to finish. Should work fine then.
Possible defective card if does not work after full format. Do not use any "quick format" option.
First time must be FULL format.

I have sd card which when I inserted in card reader it is telling it is not formated what to do
If there is data/photos on the card you need to save. Try downloading them with the card in the camera via the USB cable first. this will save your data. Then try formating the card either on the camera or your PC. Sometimes the cards get corupt and it is cheaper to replace them in the long term as this may happen again.

This could have happened by removing the card while the camera was on or by not using the card eject mode on your PC.

In Windows, right click on the drive and go to "format."
On a Mac, OS X, you have to go to Disk Utilities under the Utilities in your Applications from the Dock.

My Blackberry Curve 8330 won't format a media car
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Media Card or Options > Advanced Options > Media Card.
Display the menu and click Format Card.
  • some times Format Card option does not appear on the menu, skip the step and perform the procedure that follows.
  • A warning message will appear asking if you are certain you would like to format the card. Click Yes to continue.
    If the Format Card option does not appear on the menu, complete the following steps:
  • On the Media Card screen, set the Mass Storage Mode Support field to Off.
  • Display the menu and click Save. The Media Card screen closes automatically.
  • Click Media Card to reopen the Media Card screen.
    To format the media card, display the menu and click Format Card.
  • A warning message will appear asking if you are certain you would like to format the card. Click Yes to continue.

No, that camera works with the 2gb cards just fine. You will want to try to format the card in your computer first, then try it in your camera (format it in the camera before using). If it doesn't format in the computer, it is a bad card.

No format memory card
Make sure the lock switch is set to off on the cards you are using. That would prevent you from using them.

Xacti VPC-HD1000 "Problem with SD card" "FORMAT / FULL FORMAT"
This card is not compatible with your camera try another brand!
This should fix ya! ( ( all sd cards may look alike but they are not!)

either *#7370# fro the standby screen, and enter lock code, default is 12345

or when booting up, hold the call (green) key, 3 and *

alternativly try reset to factory from tools>settings>general>factory settings.. again default lock code is 12345
